Show Notes
A weekly live show covering all things Freedom Tech with Max, Q and Seth.
This week we're joined by Pavol Lupták, a Slovak cryptoanarchist, voluntaryist and perpetual traveller currently moving between Nicaragua, Honduras and (soon) Bolivia and Argentina. He co-founded Paralelní Polis in Prague and the IT security firm Nethemba, and now runs Liberation.Travel, helping people set up residencies, bank accounts and companies abroad. Pavol explains flag theory as decentralising your life the way Bitcoin decentralises money: spreading residency, tax base, banking and companies across several countries so no single government holds a monopoly over you. He talks us through his own journey from penetration tester in Bratislava to giving up his Slovak residency (while keeping his citizenship) and building a life with no fixed tax home.
Most of the conversation is practical. For EU and UK citizens, Pavol's advice is to give up permanent residency rather than relocate, then live off crypto loans rather than a salary: he borrows euro stablecoins against Bitcoin on Aave and Morpho at under 1% interest, which counts as a loan rather than income and carries no tax or reporting obligation. He sets out why Paraguay is uniquely useful here: it has territorial taxation and, unlike almost anywhere else, grants tax residency without requiring you to actually live there, just a short visit roughly every three years. He covers the cost and process of getting Paraguayan residency, why it works for families who want a backup plan without pulling kids out of school (international school networks let children switch countries without changing school), why it falls apart for US citizens taxed on worldwide income regardless of residency, and why he's now also testing Bolivia, which offers similarly crypto-friendly non-CRS banking on nothing more than a passport.
We also get into his travel and privacy setup: a 7kg bag, a GrapheneOS Pixel, a Flipper Zero, the rugged Tank 5 Pro phone and Even Realities G2 smart glasses, plus his rules for staying safe on the road, splitting his seed across continents, hidden wallet passphrases, and never posting his location until after he's left. On a listener question about counterparty risk in his borrow-against-Bitcoin setup, he describes the AI agents he runs to monitor his collateral and alert him before any risk of liquidation, and to shop his loans across platforms for the best rate. Hello, and welcome back to Freedom Tech Friday, a live and interactive show taking place every Friday at 9AM eastern or 2PM UK across the ungovernable network. Each week, we dig into the latest in Freedom Tech, including Bitcoin, Monero, encrypted messengers, privacy tools, and everything in between.
Essentially, if there's a news item tool or topic that can help you take back some control in today's digital Panopticon, then we wanna talk about it.
This show and the topics we cover are powered by Freedom dot Tech, a daily news desk that uses AI to monitor hundreds of sources so we can continue to bring you the signal each and every week. My name's q and a, and I'm head of customer experience at Foundation.
And as always, I'm joined by Max, the head honcho of the Ungovernable Network, and Seth, who is COO at Cake Wallet. Top support for the last show with SF from Node Runners Radio come from late stage huddle, who sent 6,006 sats and just said, great show. Although we do have an honorable mention for an on chain booster
going by c Brown, who didn't name a specific show, but they boosted $70 worth of Bitcoin around 85,000 sats. So they get an honorable mention as well. Thank you to you, c Brown. Without further ado, let's dive into the show. I will, say hello to our guest very shortly. But, Max, Seth, how are you doing?
GM folks, I am, bathing every morning in the the tears of my cybersecurity past. As new vulnerabilities come out, I patch them with AI. I wake up the next morning, rinse, repeat. But to be fair, it's much easier now to defend myself. I... I'm starting to maybe regret my comments on
AI having an outsized advantage for defenders over attackers. I feel like that might be proven wrong in the short term, but still been fun. Still been fun. App side's
still really solid. Infrastructure has been fun iterating on, but it's also just cool, the amount of things that I can do that's never been possible in terms of defending our setup at the same time.
Yeah. Never a dull moment. Never a dull It's certainly been a week, hasn't it? It feels like the the wildfire is spreading an ever increasing pace. But, Max, how's things in your world? Nothing clever like that, mate. No clever AI stuff or security stuff. I did get another chainsaw, which brings it up to six chainsaws
for anyone out there who was wondering. And outside of that, mate, just excited for today's show. I am very, very excited to learn about how to protect yourself from the fiat world. We do a lot of chat about
protecting yourself from cyber attacks, protecting yourself and your Bitcoin and your your information and everything else, but actually protecting yourself from the physical world on the fiat map with the dirty bastards that constantly come for us,
we have someone to to give us some advice. So, yeah, I'm very excited about this one. Yeah. Absolutely. Somebody arguably no better placed to come and talk about all this stuff. So somebody I followed for quite some time on on socials. So very excited to have Pavel Luptak on on the show who is a Slovak crypto anarchist, voluntarist,
and perpetual traveler with his tax base in Paraguay. He co founded Paralenli Polis in Prague and the IT security firm, please forgive me for saying this incorrectly, Nethemba, and also runs liberation.travel, which helps people set up residencies, bank accounts, and companies abroad. And his site, Globalist Opportunist...
Sorry, Global Opportunist is his own setup in public. And I love this quote here that my research clunker found. Flag theory practiced, not preached. Pavel, pleasure to have you with us. Welcome to the show. How are you?
Hello, everybody. So thanks for this, like, long introduction. Greet from Nicaragua, where I'm just now. Yesterday, was in Honduras. And in a few... In a couple of weeks, I'm traveling to Buenos Aires and then to Bolivia.
I'm going to ask for the Bolivian residency. We've we've we've been just discussing that Bolivia can be, like, a crypto interesting country with a trade for taxation, a non CRS. So... Yep. So, basically, I'm I'm traveling and looking for opportunities not only for me, but also for our customers.
And, of course, at the same time, I still have, like, a IT security company. So so so I'm following what's what's happening now with Yeah. All these crazy hacking. But, fortunately, as as it was already mentioned, we have we have defense. So so now it's very easy to to defend against all these attacks. For example,
I can I can delegate to my AI agents just, you know, pat? Like, patch these vulnerabilities, and I can freely go hiking. Well, that's what exactly what I'm going to do, like, in the next next hour. So...
Yeah. So
it's it's not so bad, like, many people think with this IT security. Yeah. It's super easy to to defend now. It really is. It really is. That's been the crazy change over this. Like, there has been this insane week of vulns across the spectrum. Like, I mean, Node. Js, PHP.
You name it, something's had a critical one this week. But the ability to actually be notified of these things as soon as they're published and immediately have a readout on your desk of exactly what is affected, what's not, and how to how to fix it.
It's pretty insane. It's a a world of difference from when I was doing cybersecurity by hand, artisanally, back in the day. Just for your information, like, two or three days ago, I revealed, like, a really serious vulnerability in updraft plugin, which is the the the most popular WordPress plugin for, like, in make... Making backups.
So so I I revealed to not me. Okay. My agent revealed there is, like, a critical security vulnerability affected, like, a four millions of installation at least, like, a plug in. And... Yeah. And, yeah, he brought the whole, like, security advisory.
He he he brought a report. He basically communicated and still communicates with the with the potentially affected customers. So, yeah, I get really good times. I like it.
Yeah. So I wanna start at the beginning for for those of the the listeners of the Ungovernable Network that may not have heard of you before. I wanna get a little bit more around who who is Pavel.
You know, I touched on a couple of things and want many of the the plates that you spin in in my brief introduction, but let's get to know you a little bit more. So how does, you know, a a pen tester from Bratislava end up as a perpetual traveler in Paraguay? Like, the the... There seems to be a huge jump there. So just open
question, like, where where did it start, and how did you get to where you are today? It's... It seems like a very, very interesting journey. Yeah. So so firstly, like, I think it's it's like a heck... It's it's the the thing of hacker's mindset.
That was the reason why I... Twenty years ago, I I started this, like, IT security company or penetration testing company. And then after many, many years, of course, I didn't want to I didn't want to pay taxes, so I was looking for the the best legal ways how not to pay taxes, how to optimize taxes.
And I I
went, like, more deeply, and I just found out that there are option that it is possible to get, like, a good... Firstly, I got, like, a good residence in PAMA, Then I got the residence in Paraguay. Then I got the residency in Uruguay.
Then I created, like, some offshore companies. And I... They just found out that, yes, it's possible. Like, when you are, like, enough smart, you can afford not to stay at one place the most of your time.
And I just love traveling. You can basically change your life in... You can change your... In such way that, basically, you can opt out of the system. You can leave the system, and you can you can have structure that is, like, a completely tax free. And that was my goal, and I finally achieved it many years ago.
And I think, like, many, especially crypto people, appreciate it at at the same time. So I started to offer this possibility also to to, like, especially to crypto people. Because crypto people are the most flexible.
You know? They can they can basically move, like, easily. Mhmm. Not only, like, physically, but they can move later companies, for example. So just because of this flexibility... And and it's basically compliant with my, like, a philosophical, like, ideology.
I'm I'm voluntary. So I so I basically believe that that all relationships in the world should be always, like, a mutually... Like, a voluntary. And just because of that,
I was deciding to set up my life in such a way that, basically, I pay only for things I really want to, and I'm not... And really hate, like, oppression. You know? Like, you have to do something because the... Some stupid law, some stupid, like, bureaucrats.
So so, basically, I was looking for the solution. I just want to have my my life compliant with my, like, a voluntary. So I was looking, like, how how to change my life in such a way that I can pay only for things I really want to.
And it's definitely possible. So... Yeah. It's it's so interesting the the, like, parallels with someone who comes into the Bitcoin world and has to learn that, like, all of the crazy stuff that's possible with it can be done, but it's a steep learning curve. And I think even people who are really technical
and they can self custody and they know how to coin, join, and jump between different things and do lending and do all the crypto stuff and live in that world, once they're in the physical world, they're really easy to attack. And I think a lot of people just go, ah, you just... You've gotta pay your taxes. You've just gotta do this. And
if a school tells you you can't take your kids out, you can't do it, and they kind of... They're they're this freedom maximalist on the online world. And in the physical world, they are completely controlled.
And, that's what I like about what you do in laying out that this is an option, and it's just a... It's like a step by step guide of, taking back that control and, like you say, only giving to people who deserve it and who you want to collaborate with. And that's really, really cool. It's just like a...
It's not good enough just to have half and go, oh, well, I'm a crypto anarchist, but I'm attackable in the physical world. That's not enough. Yeah. So so so one thing is that, even like a crypto person, you you you you probably like decentralization because thanks to decentralization, we are, like, a more robust,
we are more free. So so, like, probably everybody agrees that when we are talking about crypto, like, decentralization is like a path is the way. And and I think, like, a decentralization can be achieved not only in this crypto world, but it can be achieved only also, like, in this physical world. So so so, basically
so, basically, what I'm just trying to do on myself and and also case of my customers, I'm trying to decentralize their... Both personal and economic lives to multiple countries in such way so they they can have they can have the most freedom and and flexibility.
So so it's definitely possible. So you can decentralize your life to multiple countries because each country can offer you something special or something like a great, and you can just use it. And that's that's also why, basically, I have this website like a opportunities.global because, basically, I'm trying to embracing these like a
global possibilities or global opportunities just to be to be free and to be, like, a decentralized. So so so I think that that for for crypto people, this is, a pretty... Something they can understand, like, easily, and and they can imagine, like, a decentralization
of this life. Like... Because the the government, they still have monopoly, you know, like, territorial monopolies. And you can... It's it's the game. You can just hack it. You know? You can just Mhmm. Opt out. It's possible and just be a free person, and you can do it just now. You don't need to wait.
Yeah. And keeping keeping things separate as well where, like, you you can't be attacked just by one country and your company's in a different jurisdiction, etcetera. It just means that, like, if you're attacked,
you you don't have everything, like, all in one basket. You don't have all your eggs in one basket where they just come come after you as a person, and they can seize assets and take everything. It's, it would have to be multiple countries. And I think that's, an important thing and something, again, we take for granted, with Bitcoin and,
cryptocurrencies. Like, you you separate these things out so you're less attackable. You don't just have, like, one one, wallet with everything in there on your phone or something. You'd you'd separate things out, and this is much the same. I think the question I have with, a lot of this stuff is it's perfect, it seems, for
people who can travel, especially people who work online or work from a laptop. What about for people who are in more normie jobs? Are there still things that they can do to help themselves like offshore companies, etcetera, even if they can't physically travel themselves?
A very good question. I I created special presentation just for these people. Basically... Okay. So we have, like, four four categories of customers. The first one is basically called, like, a,
like, a backup... Just a backup plan. People who are basically are not changing anything in their life, they just ask for the residency in Paraguay. So it's like a like a backup plan people.
Then another, like, kind of people... Sort of people are people out of the system. So people who basically stay at the at the same place all the time, but they're able to cancel the residency.
And this is something you are basically asking for. If you live in the EU, if you live in The UK, and you're a citizen of these countries, you... What what you can do, you can you can give up your residency.
Because as a citizen, you don't need, like, a residency to live in your country. So for example, all use... All all EU citizens, they can give up their residency. For example, in Slovakia, it's really good. It's really cool because conscription, like military obligations are associated with
permanent residents. So, basically, when you give up your residency, you can still live in Slovakia because you're a Slovak citizen, but you don't have this, like, a conscription of military duties, which is super cool.
And so so at the same time... So you don't need, like, a residency to live in your country. All, like, duties, like, for example, mandatory health care insurance or social insurance, all these duties are associated with the residence.
So if you stay... If you can afford to stay permanently in your country and legally have no income, you also have... And and you give up your, like, permanent residency,
you you you won't have any obligation, like social insurance, health care insurance. And how how to solve this situation? So first thing is, like, even, like, a lucky crypto person, what you can do, you can leave from, like, crypto loans, like, a DeFi crypto loans.
I've wrote, like, a detailed article how it's possible, basically, short euros or short fiat and leave from crypto loans for 1%, like, interest fee, which is like a nothing. So it's like less than inflation.
So many of my friends who basically live at one place that they cannot leave, they're living from crypto loans. So they basically use Bitcoin. They use, like, a collateralized version of Bitcoin. There there is even, like, decentralized collateralized
version of Bitcoin, like a TBTC, for example. So they use, like, a collateralized Bitcoin, and and they and they borrow,
a fiat USDT or you you you... Euro c or, you know, some, like, like, stable coin. They can they can have, like, a comfortable life. They can live many, many, many, many years because the the interest fee is less than inflation. So, basically, there is no rush, no need to pay these like a loan.
It's a loan. It's a legally loan, so there are no tax obligations, no obligation to pay any health or social insurance from this loan, which is super cool. So so my recommendation, if you're, like, a crypto person and you live in the EU or you live in The UK, just give up your residency.
You can ask for the... Like, a Paraguayan, for example, Paraguayan residency. You don't need to leave there. You just need to make, like, a visit month month per three years if you're, a Paraguayan resident. You will get, like, a Paraguayan driving license. So, basically, you can drive inside of the EU or inside of
The UK with your pregnant driving license. So even if you don't have residency in... Because because your... You can basically renew your driving driving license in in the EU only if you have, like, a permanent residency there.
So you don't need to care about your, like, a EU driving license. You could be... You can use, like, a private driving license, and you can steal, like, a drive, for example, inside of the
of the EU. You don't need to pay health insurance. You don't need to pay social insurance. You go. You you you can you can leave from the, like, a crypto loan. And and, basically, it's a loan, so it's not like a tax event.
There is no obligation to pay any taxes or anything like that. So most of my friends, like, good friends who are basically living permanently at one place in the EU,
they don't have residency in the EU. They are still EU citizens, so they can still live in the country. They have no official income because they live from the loan, so they they don't pay any any insurance, and they don't pay any taxes. And it's one of the personal legal setup. So that's exactly what I can recommend to you.
I I do have a quick question about that. I'm sure that Max also has more specific questions because he's somebody who can really benefit from that. I know something like I... I've seen you talk about this many times over the years and at Paragon Polis and MineroCon and other events. And,
one thing that I was... I got super, super excited when I first heard you talking about this. I was like, oh, yeah. Okay. This is this is it. I can finally finally be free and have a little bit more of a a crypto anarchist life and then, chatted with you and realized, well, I'm American, so it's quite different as a US citizen.
I know that a lot of our audience were were really spread all over, but a lot of our audience is based in The US. Pretty heavy US. Yeah. Pretty heavy US audience. So I'm I'm kinda curious if you can outline,
is there any flexibility to do something like this as a as a US citizen? Is it just much more restrictive and not something that's worth pursuing? Like, for those people like me, what does that actually look like?
Basically basically... Okay. So so the setup I described means that you have no, like, legal income. So when you have no legal income, even if you're, like, a US, like, a tax slave, so, basically, you have, like, your tax obligations associated with those US citizenship,
you still have no duties to pay taxes because you have no legal income. You you leave from the crypto loan. You know? So it's still possible. It's still possible. And so so... Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Because you you won't have any... In the setup, I described you won't have any income.
So you have no obligation. Like, I usually... When when you're a US citizen and you live abroad, so you live in the EU, for example, Paraguay or anywhere, you have an obligation to declare any income. I think it's about $12,020,000 dollars a year.
You you have this, like, duty to declare it to the IRS. But in this situation, you won't have any income. You basically... You you you legally leave from from the loan. You can ask your AI agent to to analyze your smart contract in in AAVE or any, like, a DeFi platform to create you, like, a really nice, like, a rent a
rent a a lent rent agreement. So, basically, you can you can you can show it to your bank. For example, if they ask you for the source of income, you can show it to your tax office. You look. This is exactly I I I never I never sold my Bitcoins.
I used my Bitcoin as a collateral. So, basically, it's not tax event. These are my stable coins, my USDT. I I borrow my USDT for for 1%, and that's how I live now. So so you know that all rich people in the world, they basically live from the loans.
And, yeah, you can do you can do it in... Just now, just thanks to DeFi. It's definitely possible. Just to clarify quickly, Pavel, I I understand that, and that makes total sense. The the question I have digging a little bit deeper for the American land of the free tax cuts, They...
On any income as far as I understand it, not obviously on loans, but any income for people who are employed. Seth, for us, as an example, obviously, he's gonna have an income coming in. Is there any way for him, or would there be any way for him to either set up an offshore company or do something clever
where it brings down his tax burden or or eliminates it? Or can you not do that for an actual income that isn't a loan if you are a US citizen? Because I know you can with with other countries, but it seems that they, they really, really like to steal the wealth of their citizens or subjects.
Yeah. So so... Yeah. This is the problem. So so, basically, if you're a US citizen and you have, like, a normal salary, it... Basically, any relocation doesn't help you at all. So so so, basically, when you reach this limit, like, a 120 k a year, and it doesn't matter where you live, if you have any income, any worldwide income,
you... As a US citizen, unfortunately, you have this, like, a obligation to declare it and declare it and and and pay taxes. So in the case of The US citizens, we are, like, pretty limited. So so, like, yeah,
no no money. Okay. The other option, what... Like, some people some people do is just keep up your US citizenship, and now you can buy, like, a Argentinian citizenship, which is pretty expensive, but it also, like, cheaper solution, Caribbean Island, like Antigua And Barbuda
or, like, sun kids and navies and all these countries. So so so, yes, there are options. You can buy the... Like, a better citizenship. You won't be like a tax slave. But in this situation, still, you will have ten years obligation even if you give up your US citizenship to declare and pay tax in The US. So the whole immigration process
from The US to, like, to to some other, like, citizenship, From the tax perspective, it will take, like, a ten years, which is pretty pretty long process. So so... Yes. But there are not many other option, unfortunately. So what you can do is you can still create, like, some opt... Like,
some company, like, a offshore company and do... And use this company to to invoice customers. But finally, when you want to pay dividends from any offshore company as as The US tax resident, you still have an obligation to declare your income if it is more than than 120
k, I think, a year. So so so so the first thing what I recommend you is just just not to have, like, a traditional income, not to not to have, like, a traditional salary because these are, like, the the the biggest tax victims.
And this is this is the the people who basically cannot avoid, like, a taxes. So so so my first recommendation is just change your contract in such way that you don't... You won't have, like, a normal salary because these people, they have to pay taxes.
Okay. That's super useful, especially for a big part of our audience. I have a a follow-up question on... We... We've talked about a lot of different countries fleetingly in the first half hour of this, but we keep coming back to to Paraguay. So I'm curious why Paraguay?
What's the the allure there? Clearly, it's, you know, favorable from a tax perspective, I'm assuming, but maybe let's dive into that and and what are the the main benefits? Okay. So so so Paraguay has the biggest advantage compared to all other countries, and and it's basically combination of two things.
The first one is Paraguay has a territorial taxation. A lot of countries has territorial taxation. Like, basically, all Central American countries, including including, like, El Salvador, for example, Nicaragua,
Panama, Costa Rica. All these countries, they have territorial taxation. So, basically, it means you have an obligation to declare and pay taxi... Taxes only from the local income. So you... If you have any foreign income, you have no obligation to declare nor pay taxes from your foreign income. But why
Paraguay is much better than all these countries is because in Paraguay, to get your tax residency, you don't need to live there. And that's the big, big difference. Because if you want to be, like, a tax resident of Panama, if you want to be tax resident of Uruguay, if you want to be a tax resident of Costa Rica,
you have to live there at least six months a year. So, basically, you will really have to live there. So for people like me, like perpetual traveler, digital nomads, people who are traveling all the time or people who don't stay anywhere more than six months, Paraguay is the best
because it's probably probably the only country in the world with territorial taxation where it's possible to get tax residency without
living there. And that's the the the great great advantage because no other country offers offer this, and this is, like, really cool. So so, basically, if you can change your life in such way that you don't live anywhere more than six months, like me, for example, so you can you can live, like, I don't know, up to six months in The UK,
five months in Germany, and then two months in Croatia. In this situation, you don't need to be tax resident of these countries. You can be still tax resident of Paraguay.
You don't need to leave there. You just need, like, a two year residency. You have you have to register at the tax office in Paraguay. You need to make, like, a, like, a month... Monthly tax eval, which is like a VAT declarations, and that's all.
And you can... And and it's still possible to ask for the tax certificate certificate from the tax office so you can basically present this tax certificate to any tax offices anywhere in the world. So this is the the biggest advantage of Praguay. It's a territorial taxation country.
And to get tax residency, you don't need to leave there. So that's why Prague Way is so popular among, like, perpetual travelers and
digital nomads because they offer you tax residency without leaving there. And if you have no incoming Prague Way, you have no obligation to pay taxes. That that makes perfect sense for someone traveling. So it's...
The the six month, a hundred and eighty days or less in any country stops you from being a tax resident, but but you must hop. So what advice would you give for people who maybe would go for a Paraguayan tax residency or or would be thinking about that, but then actually have a family and kids in school or
can't can't easily jump from country to country. What's the advice for those sorts of people? I guess they're a totally different category. Yeah. Especially for... I I wrote another article, especially for these people.
Paraguay is good backup plan for families. And I'm going to explain you why because normally, for example, in Uruguay or, like, in most countries where you want to get residency for your, like, children, you have to prove that your children basically visit the local schools
or they're homeschooled in the country if the country supports, like, a homeschooling. But the thing is that that that most country or many countries, they require, like, obligatory educations.
And this is called about Paraguay. If if you're, like, a family with kids, you basically ask for, like, a residency and which is like a national ID of Paraguay for all your kids, all your children.
And at the same time, you don't need to live in Paraguay, and your kids, they don't need to visit, like, a pregnant schools. They will get, like, a national IDs of Paraguay, but nobody nobody cares.
They not... They don't need to go to the pregnant schools. Because in Uruguay, for example, they have to also in the... In in most other countries. So so Prego is the best best plan plan plan b for, like, a... As a... For for families because there is no, like, a obligation to to to pull your children to the school.
And and, also... So so so for example, Prague... We do Paraguay mainly for for families just a backup plan. So in case of, like, war, military conflict, or anything that happens, they can easily, like, leave leave...
And leave in in a Paraguay permanently. So so... Yeah. But, also, I I met, like, many families even for... With the children, and they are traveling, like, a full time. Basically, it's not a big deal because you can just be, like, five months during summer in one country, for example, in any European country, then five months in Panama
or any country and just, I don't know, two months in some third country, and you are... And that's all. You know? So so so Mhmm. Like, for example, I did my personal calculation, and I found out that for me, it's much cheaper to travel all the time and pay for, like, accommodation in hotels and pay for my flight tickets then
stay at one place and pay taxes. So I'm just just too poor, you know, to stay at one place and and and and pay tax. What? Yeah. I have I have noticed most of the most wealthy people that I meet do... Especially when they're little bit older, they do tend to do, like, we spend, you know, three, four months in Portugal,
and then we go over here for another couple of months. Let me do... And it's and it's part of, like,
you know, they just... The summers are here. The winters are there. We we have a property here. We rent it out when we're not there, and they organize their lives in such a way that they're not, like, constantly hopping and hopping and hopping, but
it's an enjoyable process of getting to experience different cultures and weather and places while saving a load of money. So it's like it's like free holidaying. It's it's it's pretty clever.
I have two kids, and we are traveling together. Not all... Like, every time. And to be sincere, they really enjoy traveling and living at different places.
I think for them, it's even more easy to, like, change country for... Than than for adults. You know? Mhmm. So so, like, children are really flexible. You know? Like, they are much more flexible than, like, adults. So so I think it's more difficult for adult than for children.
My my children, they have, like, friends in many different countries. They speak, like, multiple languages. You know, like, I I don't think it's bad. You know? Of course, like, it's individual decision of, like, every parent.
But... Yeah. What about the schooling? That's that's the one thing that would stop me from jumping because I know that homeschooling is a big thing, especially in, like, this kind of crypto communities and stuff.
There's absolutely no way on earth that I would homeschool my kids because they are terrorists. I would like... I couldn't actually deal with homeschooling them. How do people get around that if they're not built for, like, homeschooling their kids? They have other stuff. Like, they'd rather have a a a more structured system of their
groups or, like like, as you travel, you can take kids in and out of these kind of schools. How does that work? Unfortunately, there is, like, a network of chain chain of, like, international international schools.
So, basically, you can you can put your kid to one school and basically in one country, and then basically, you can change the school. And it... It'll be it'll be still the same international school in in other country. So, like, it's definitely possible.
And you have, like... And these international schools are basically used by diplomats. You know, like, children's of diplomats are are exactly the the people who visit, like, these schools.
So there is, like, multiple international schools, and you can basically... Firstly, you have to decide in which two or three countries you want to leave, and you... Then you just ask your agents, like, which international schools cover your two or three countries, and you can just use this international school,
and it works. So, basically, your your your child will be still in a one school, just in a multiple countries. It's definitely possible, like, children of diplomats, they have been using it for, like, years, you know, with no problem. So definitely possible and definitely, like, feasible.
Before we move on to the next topic, know Seth wants to chime in. On the whole... You know, if somebody was to enlist your services at liberation.travel and they were interested in this whole Paraguay
kind of scenario and setup. What what sort of time scales would the average, you know, customer of yours be looking at in terms of, like, going from zero to getting that that tax residency and, you know, what's the ballpark of of the the all in cost?
Obviously, I say this where I'm sure there there are no two cases that are exactly the same, but, like, on average, what what what can people expect? Yeah. Okay. So so firstly, to to get the residency in the most in the most countries of the world, you need, like, a birth certificate.
You need, like, a big run check. In case of The US citizens, like, a FBI check or less some kind of list of... From the criminal record register. You need, like, a merge certificate if you're married. You need, like, a divorce certificate if you're divorced.
You need to make, like, a personalization of all these, like, documents. Then if these documents are in English, we can translate them in. If not, you have to translate these documents to to Spanish, and you have to make another upholstylization of the Spanish translation. So this is like a preparation of documents.
This preparation usually takes two weeks, for example, three weeks. When you have you have all these documents ready, you can come to Asuncion just for two or three days. The first day, we we we will ask for the residency. The second day, we basically take your, like, a fingerprint.
So later when your residency is approved, you can ask... We will ask for Sedula, which is like a national ID. So, basically, just one short two, three days visit is necessary. Then in one month or one, two months, your temporary residence is approved.
In about three months, your national ID is issued. We'll pick up these documents. We'll send these documents anywhere in the world. Then you have to do, like, a obligatory annual visit in one year just for one day where you can ask for the driver's license, for example, open the bank accounts, and do do the stuff.
And then in two years, since your tempo residency is approved, you have to come to progress second... Third time, and you can ask directly for the per... Permanent residency. And permanent residency basically means you will get all your documents for ten years.
And the cool thing about permanent residency is that then you have to visit Prague West once per three years. So for one day. So so you... Basically, you don't need to leave there at all.
You you need to visit the country once per three years. And regarding pricing, it depends. Basically, when we count the cost for, like, a residency, immigration service, national ID, tax office registration, driving licenses, proof of address,
you know, all these things. It's about, like, together, it's maybe $55,000 or something like this. So so it's, like, pretty cheap. And then you will get, like, all possible documents. You basically...
You need to start a new life in Progway. Or as I mentioned before, you don't need to leave there at all. And, for example, in Bolivia, because now I'm testing Bolivia. Next month, I'm going to Bolivia asking for the residence in Bolivia. In Bolivia, it's even, like, more interesting because
Bolivia also has territorial taxation. It's more crypto friendly because Bolivian banks didn't send CRS, so they do... Don't do the the the, like, reporting out Bolivia. And, also, you can top up, like, a USDT stablecoins to any Bolivian banks.
There is, like, a Binance app, for example. And with the Binance app, you can pay basically anything in Bolivia. So so so it's like a it's like a Mercado Pago in Argentina with a application like a lemon mi. You can basically pay anything in crypto in Argentina, the same in Bolivia.
So the crypto adoption when you are... When you... When we are thinking that there is this, like, a proxy services, it's almost 100%, which is, like, super cool. And the cool thing about Bolivia is that you can ask for the residency just with your passport.
You don't need anything else. You don't need your birth certificate. You don't need, like, a background check. You can ask just with your passport. Something similar is also in Mexico. In Mexico, if you are able to prove that you have some, like, income that...
Like, a $4,000 a month, for example, you also don't need, like, a background check or birth certificate, which is also interesting in Mexico. Yeah. But Mexico doesn't have trade war taxation.
So this is the problem. It's not like a tax friendly country. I I hope I I answered to all your questions. Yeah. Yeah. No. That was that was exactly, I think, what what we were looking for, and you actually segued me beautifully as well because you'd mentioned Bolivia before we started recording,
and mentioned something very interesting about being able to just deposit USDT directly to a bank account. Mhmm. Something that's been interesting to me over the years is... And I'm really curious your take is, like, what what has the usefulness of crypto...
Has it changed much over the years? You've been doing this a really long time, and kind of how does it how does it break up? Like, I I want something like Bitcoin to be the most useful thing, but it seems like normally stablecoins are far more useful,
especially in a lot of the countries that offer good residencies like this. So I'm just kinda curious your take of, like, where does crypto fit into this for you? Are you heavily using stablecoins to make all of this work? Is Bitcoin still pretty useful to you?
Yeah. Just interested in in your take on those things. I... For example, in South America, I I would say that stablecoin... You know, they are fixed to USD, American dollars. Stablecoins, for example, in Argentina, and I think also in private, stablecoins are more popular than Bitcoin.
So so I use stablecoin just for for spending, and I use, like, a Bitcoin, like, as a collateral, you know, for savings. So that's the the main difference. Stablecoins, it's still like a fiat. You know? And you just want to give away your fiat. You don't you don't want to you don't want to hold your fiat for for for a longer period.
So... But it's more like a more flexible. So, yes, I use, like, a stablecoins a lot. By the way, I forgot to mention one important things why Preguin residence is good. And this is not so obvious, but many people appreciate it. When you have your Preguin, like, city or national ID, and you have, like, a proof of address,
the cool thing about... Or Bolivian one, well, the cool thing what you can do, you can basically make k by c process on any crypto service. Like, if, for example, I'm using Etherfi or I'm using, like, a Binance. So, basically, you can use these non CRS, like, documents from non CRS country to make, like, a full KYC.
So so, basically, then you are using, like, a KYC services but with no reporting because you use, like, your non CRS tax residency, which is super cool. So so so, for example, how I live, like, in my typical scenario is that I I borrow I I borrow for less than 1%, like, stablecoins, euro c. So, basically, I'm shorting euro c.
Then I'm basically top up my euro euro c to my Etherfy Etherfy card. I I did, like, a KVS using my pregnant, which is super nice.
And I'm I'm... And, basically, I could do, like, a separate payments from Etherfy, which is, like, super nice. So, basically, I don't need any bank account inside of the EU EU to make, like, any separate payment.
I can pay with this card anywhere in the world. There's, like, 33% cashback. So so so this is the cool about this Bolivian or, a residency that you have, like, Paragon and Bolivian approval address and and the national ID, and you can use it for any service.
You don't need to... And then you don't need to afraid about reporting or any... Anything like that. So this is, a, like, a cool advantage. And then you can use, like, these stable cards... Stable coin cards.
Yeah. So so, yeah, I use stable coins. I'm not a big fan of stable coins, but their purchase is pretty practical. You know? Like, it's pretty cool that in Progway, for example, most developers, they accept, a stablecoin so you can buy property just with your stablecoins.
You know? You don't need to you don't need to care about some bank transfers because it's like a a pain in the ass, you know, like, proving proving... Or sending, like, a $100,000 by the bank transfer.
You can just make, like, one one, like, a USDT transfer, and everybody's happy. So... Yeah.
Step accounts are really popular in South America. And not only that, we also do business in Kyrgyzstan and Georgia and also in these countries like Asia... Asian countries, stablecoins are very popular.
How do you... Last kind of question around that. Like, what are your most useful tools for going from something like Bitcoin to stablecoins? Is there some sort of, like, DeFi platform that you lean on for that? Is that one of the ones you just mentioned, or how do you go back and forth between those two?
Yeah. Okay. So so so, basically, I'm using, like, a two biggest, like, a DeFi platforms. The first one is AAVE. I'm using the the the the recent version, like, a v... A v e four. And I also am using, like, Morpho Morpho, another, like, the biggest DFAT platforms. So, basically, these two platforms
to get... So so... And you have the option. So if you're like a... If you have if you have, like, a Bitcoin, for example, you can... Firstly, you have to change your Bitcoin to, like, a collateralized form, like a WBTC or a CBBTC or... There is, like, a decentralized version of controls Bitcoin just called TBTC.
So we can use, like, a TBTC, for example, if you are a paranoid and you have... You want, like, some decentralization. And then you can borrow, like, your stable coins. And and the thing... Cool thing about this, you can do that in a completely anonymous way.
So, like, there is no, nothing.
Beef... If you're, like, super paranoid, you can basically do... You can basically make some crypto... You you you can basically... You can use, like, near intense or, like, I don't know, like, any anonymization where you see Mono or Zcash. It doesn't matter to to change
your your your Zcash or Mono to to Bitcoin. And then you can use this... You can you you can use this Bitcoin as a collateral, and then you can you can borrow your stablecoins. And then you can decide what you want to... When you want... What you what you want to make your... With your stablecoins.
You can use these stablecoins directly, or you can use platform like like a, for example, and make settle payments or or use... Or just top up your, like, a stablecoins cards and use it. So, like, a multiple option. And cool thing is that Toraguen residency or Bolivian residency helps you a lot because
you can you can make the whole KYC process with your... With these, like, I... ID cards from these countries.
Awesome. You obviously are are kind of the embodiment of, like, the the digital nomad kind of lifestyle, and you've got two very interesting articles that piqued my interest when I was researching the show.
First one's called how to pack like a high-tech minimalist, and the other one is a brick for the wild, which talks about an absolutely beastly looking phone.
So so talk to us about the the kind of freedom tech stack, the the physical hardware that you have that supports your lifestyle. Take it anywhere you like. What's what's most exciting to you?
Okay. So so for example... Yeah. Yeah. So my my my luggage is pretty small. So I'm traveling with a seven kilo. It's not Korean luggage. It's basically less than Korean luggage. And in in this, like, a seven kilo luggage,
I have everything for, like, one year, for example. So I'm basically... I'm leaving from really small luggage. And when we are talking about about these, like, tools, like, hacking tools, of course, like, I have, a Flipper Zero.
I don't have it here in Nicaragua because, like, you know, Nicaragua, it's like a,
yeah, it's a hard regime, I would say. So so I I just don't want to look like a suspicious. So... But, normally, I have, like, a three four zero every time with me. And, also, I I have, like, a... This, like, a Chinese phone, which is called Tank five Pro.
By the way, I don't use this phone for any private... I don't... For any communication, basically. I don't have signal or anything like that. But this, like, a this, like, a Chinese phone is really good because it's it's really... It's it's big. You can use it as a power bank, and you'd be... This phone, I can be, like, a...
Up to one week, for example, in a completely wilderness in a jungle, and I don't need to charge this phone for one week, which is super cool. It has thermal camera. It has, like, a infrared camera.
It has, like, a, like, a many interesting features. It is like a laser, so it has, like, a infrared. So so this is also, like, really nice. I can use it to switch on, like, air air air conditioning air conditioning, for example, or
switch on switch of TV or anything like that. So I'm just playing with this, like, Chinese phone just called tank five pro. Don't use it for any any any any private. So don't install signal or anything like that, but just...
It's like an interesting piece of hardware, I would say. Normally, I I have, like, two phones with a... Like, a pixel phone with a graph, you know, iOS. I've been using these graph, you know, for many, many years.
Some special hardware. What do I have? Okay. And I'm also testing, like, these even realities g two privacy ever smart glasses with no cameras and no speakers. So so if you want to play with the... There is, like, an open source...
Of the person of open... For this, like, smart glasses. So maybe you should check check this, like, smart glasses. So I'm I'm using the smart glasses with this open application, open source applications.
What else? I think it's all. Nothing special. On the on the hardware side, I have a question on traveling. I always find whenever I'm traveling, I'm thinking, okay. I don't wanna travel necessarily with signing devices.
I don't wanna be having passphrases written down. I don't wanna, like, necessarily be traveling with funds that are attackable in any way, especially through airports, etcetera. How do you think about that as someone who's traveling? Is it just that you work on these loans so that you can pay for what you need as you move around,
like, within the banking system generally, and then you just secure anything separately that's not traveling with you. Like, if people don't have a secure location, secure physical location, like a home in another country or multiple countries, like, do do you have solutions for people who are traveling all the time?
Yeah. So so if you... Like, definitely, it's a not a good idea to bring with you, like, a a hardware bot with, like, other bitcoins. It's stupid idea. Yeah. I use, like, a I use, like, a backup.
So so, basically, like, a... My city split and distributed it not in multiple countries, but multiple continents. So, basically, in order to recover my my bitcoins, I have to, like, visit multiple continents and and just put it together. So so this is the fourth thing. I strongly recommend you to use, like,
like, hidden wallets, like, passphrases. Is absolutely must, especially now when the cold card was hacked. So I think everybody should use, like, a like, a passphrases in case of hardware wallets, like, a hidden wallets.
This complete... This absolutely must. And what else? And if you... That's... Another thing what I do is that if I do any public posting for my travels, I'm doing it just a few days or few weeks after I I leave the place.
So, basically That's fine. It's also, like, a good idea. So nobody knows where I... Where I'll be in the following days, and the photos you see is from my previous, like, visits. So it's it's all not a good, like, practice what I can recommend that I get to people who are, like, a...
Who are, like, a privacy ever. Yeah. That's my recommendation. Very cool. Just as we we start to wrap up, we did have one pre submitted question from Roger on Nosta, and it goes back to the kind of the stable coins and the lending aspect of kind of your setup.
And he said, the weak point in a borrow euro is against Bitcoin structure is rarely the coin, it is the lender. A margin call on repriced collateral turns a borrow to hold position into a forced sale often near the bottom.
The practical difference between holding and being liquidated. Question for Wilder is, who holds the collateral in your setup, and does any of the nine jurisdictions give you a counterparty you would trust with it in a hard drawdown?
Okay. So firstly, I use completely AI agents. I use AI agents for two things. So they... My AI agents monitors collateral. So so, basically, if if the the the price of collateral is decreasing and there is, like, likelihood of liquidation, I immediately receive, like, a message to my signal.
So so so I know immediately that something bad is something bad is going on, And I can just improve... I can just, like, increase my collateral, or I can just pay the debts. So, like, a multiple option. So the... So I have, like, a special agent that monitors all my loans and collateral. So it's it's basically
it's basically impossible that my loan loans will be liquidated because I'm informed immediately when the Bitcoin goes down, for example. So this is the first thing. And and another thing, I use another agent that basically analyze...
That basically analyzes all, like, loans at a f... AVE and also Morpho. And if there is, like, any better interest fee, it immediately send me, like, a email So I know exactly that there is, a... The better interest fee, the better loan, or something. So so I can just migrate something what is the best.
I've wrote the article, which is up to date. I can send you the link how to leave from the crypto loan and how to basically borrow stable accounts for one purse... Less than 1%, like, interest fee.
Then later, I can share this article. So, yeah, so this is not a problem at all. We have, like, AI agents, and these AI agents, they can care about all our money. You know? Like, they can just check the contracts and send notification, and they can even, like, top up or increase your collateral if you just trust enough to your agent.
So definitely pass... It's not a problem at all. I don't I don't care about this. Like, they're like a multiple, like, lending platforms. They offer interest fee. They they they can do it for you, but the interest fee in this platform are usually, like, much higher.
You know? So so for me is I prefer the the the least or the the smallest interest fee, and I can care about everything with my AI agents.
Perfect. Well, that... That's almost the the ideal bookend. We started the show talking about how AI agents were top
and we're the show with how you're using AI agents to to look after your loan. Almost poetic as if we planned it. We are at the the top of the hour. As always, gone very, very quickly and we are definitely gonna have to do this again because there's so many other things that I wanna dive into with you, Pavel.
But I just wanna wrap us up now to say thank you so much for sparing us an hour of your time. This has been wonderful. I'm sure the listeners have got a fantastic amount of useful information out of this. I know I certainly have.
Thank you to everybody who has been in helping move conversation along. Pavel, before we wrap up, where would you like to to send people so they can learn more about everything that you're about?
Okay. So so I have the website, opportunities.global, or you can find a lot of useful information there. Also, we have, like, a mailing list at liberation travel. This is really popular now. We have, like, more than 10,000 people now, so you can subscribe to the mailing list. It's called, like, a liberation travel hacks.
Also, we have, like, a blogs, very useful blogs in liberation travel. So check liberation travel blogs, mailing list, and global opportunities, and you will find all useful information there.
And just one important information,
it's a high time to be free, so just start now. You can do it. That's my message to all people. Yeah. Absolutely. And we always round out with something very similar, and that is stay on Governable and Pavel's
