CastuMines back to October 15, 2021. Jack Dorsey tweeted, "Square is considering building a Bitcoin mining system, based on custom silicon and open source for individuals and businesses worldwide.
If we do this, we'd follow our hardware wallet model, build in the open, in collaboration with the community." Since then, Block have decided to move forward with the project, and a begun development of their own semiconductor chips.
Block are now considering building a mining development kit, or MDK, that will be open source and help advance the mining space, as we've seen from the BDK, or Bitcoin development kit, and the LDK, lightning development kit.
The MDK will consist of a hashboard, control board, open source firmware, software API, and a web front end. The goal of the MDK is to help developers integrate Bitcoin mining into heating systems, optimize Bitcoin mining hardware, and help with intermittent power applications.
The team working on this want to hear your questions, suggestions, and thoughts. They can be contacted at mining@block.xyz. So, if you're a miner or developer and you're looking to find new use cases, or improve existing applications, get in touch.
3, 2, 1, contact! I'm very aroused. Shickwinner attempts to fud mining in the selling of mining equipment. Said Shickwinner calls himself Metalawman, and he reports on his Twitter, shocking new case filed by the SEC.
The SEC has just filed a case alleging that, selling crypto mining equipment, and offering hosting services for the equipment constitutes an investment contract under Howie. Yes, you read that right? Metalawman says, here's what you need to know.
The case was filed in Federal Court in Utah. Some of the mining machines at issue are Bitcoin and miners. To Metalawman's knowledge, the SEC has never issued guidance formally or informally, that even hinted that selling mining equipment could be an unregistered securities offering.
Many public companies doing business in the US today are selling mining equipment and offering hosting services right now. And they have been in the business for years, with no apparent complaint from the SEC.
The SEC's attempt to extend its jurisdiction to the sales of mining equipment is the latest in the growing line of cases where the SEC is attempting to stretch beyond its statutory authority.
He says the overreach is accelerating and US Congress needs to act. Jameson Lop comes into the fray to correct some of the framing here and do a little Bitcoin fudbusting. Mr. Lop states, "The issue the SEC has with this operation is not that they were
selling mining equipment. It's that they were selling some stupid token that came with the expectation of future profits as a result of developments that the company selling the token was promising." Thank you for the clarification, Mr. Lop. Bitcoin fudbusted. Stop that.
Oh, shitcoiner. Slade. Regarded or retarded, you be the judge. Terra Wolf has become the first American nuclear-powered Bitcoin mining facility, and it's running 8,000 rigs at its Pennsylvania-based Nautilus facility. They expect to reach 5.5x
a hash across the two sites by May. They've secured a $0.2 per kilowatt-hour agreement for five years, bringing their average cost down to around $0.4. This is significantly lower than the $0.14.96 residential rate or 12.42 cent commercial average in America, and in another universe to the
cucked UK's 40 cent average. The Nautilus mine has reliable base load power from a 2.5 gigawatt nuclear generation station in Pennsylvania, and according to Terra Wolf, it's a joint venture with Texas energy producer Talon Energy, in which Terra Wolf has a 25% interest.
Electrifying. You can feel it. It's electric, boogie-o-geo-geo. Vocal 3 nuclear reactor to come online in June. Action News has some nuclear news out of Georgia. Southern nuclear operating company, aka Georgia Power, has managed to start a nuclear reaction inside the Vocal 3 nuclear reactor. They're pretty darn excited about it.
Apparently, this is the first generation 3-plus pressurized water reactor to be built in the US. That's a lot of fancy words for something that boils water. They're saying this initial criticality, reaction is a big milestone. Initial criticality is a key step during the startup
testing sequence and demonstrates that, for the first time, operators have safely started the nuclear reaction inside the reactor. Essentially, they're splitting atoms and making nuclear heat, which is obviously hotter than regular heat. And they're going to use that nuclear heat to produce
steam, which is great news for anyone that loves a good steam bath. This is just the beginning. They still have to make sure all the parts are working together like a well-oiled machine, or nuclear reactor, I guess. And if everything goes according to plan, they'll be producing
electricity in just a few months. So if you're in Georgia and your lights go out, just remember it's not a blackout, it's a nuclear power outage. They're saying there could be some delays due to equipment issues and other challenges, but I'm sure they'll figure it out. After all,
these are the same folks who brought us Vogel One and Vogel Two reactors. And if they can build two reactors, what's one more? Or another? Unless, of course, you're worried about the whole nuclear meltdown thing. But let's not think about that, folks. Let's just enjoy the nuclear steam bath
and hope for the best. Vogel One and Two were built in the 1980s, Vogel Three coming online in 2023, when Vogel Four? Soon. Action News Update has a man on the inside, formerly at Southern Company and now employed at a smaller nuclear energy supplier in the southeast United States.
He reports the amount to come online at Vogel is 2,262 megawatts of electricity. But recently Southern Company decommissioned the Wansley coal-fired power plant that generated 1,980 megawatts of electricity. The net gain here is 282 megawatts. Was it worth the time and money invested in the
new reactor? You be the judge. Thanks for tuning in. I've been John Dee and I've been Max. See you next week, and fuckers!
