Something the entire world, not just Bitcoiners or Bitcoin Miners need to understand is the halving or Halfinning. New bitcoin are issued by the Bitcoin network every 10 minutes. For the first four years of Bitcoin's existence, the amount of new bitcoins issued every 10 minutes was 50. Every four years, this number is cut in half. The day the amount halves is called a "halving" or "halvening" or better than those two the “halfinning”
In 2012, the number of new bitcoins issued every 10 minutes dropped from 50 bitcoins to 25. In 2016, it dropped from 25 to 12.5. In the most recent May 11, 2020 halving, the reward dropped from 12.5 to 6.25 BTC per block.
Next halfinning is estimated to occur April 17, 2024, the reward will drop from 6.25 BTC per block to 3.125 BTC.
2012 Halving
The 2012 block halving was the first halving and happened on November 28th, 2012.
From 50 BTC per block to 25 BTC per block
Price on Halving Day: $12.35
Price 150 Days Later: $127.00
2016 Halving
The second halving occurred on July 9th, 2016.
25 BTC per block to 12.5 BTC per block
Price on Halving Day: $650.63
Price 150 Days Later: $758.81
2020 Halving
The third halving occurred on May 11, 2020.
12.5 BTC per block to 6.25 BTC per block
Price on Halving Day: $8821.42
Price 150 Days Later: $10,943.00
Global Hashrate
- Global Hashrate - on the day of the first halving was about 24 TH but a year later jumped to 4,837 TH. 20054% increase. 266% increase. On halving number 2 July 9th 2016 Hashrate was at 1.5 million TH but a year later jumped to 5.5 million, that’s a 266% increase. Halving number 3 was May 2020 120 million TH or 120 EH. A year later global hashrate jumped to 163 million TH or 163 EH. Over the 3 years from then until August 1 of 2023 it jumped to 380 something EH 133% increase.

WTF is Containment and Why Does it Matter by Bigety Bigety Barnminer and Aaron Hall
Heat recirculation can be tricky. Oftentimes it is not discovered until a build is complete and energized. Heat recirculation causes havoc in hot environments. Read the entire article on UgovernableMisfits.com
Containment
1. The act or condition of containing.
A structure or system designed to prevent the accidental release of radioactive materials from a reactor. Or translate to Bitcoin mining terms, the accidental release of heat from a miner.

"Let me spin this up!" "This trap is right here!" "It does it, buddy!" "Here we go, boy!"
"Body managed in the DJ's!" "He's up there spinning!" "I didn't know he bought you a side gangster!" "You didn't know!" "I didn't know either!" "I went to mining this trap to start a roll with all the boys down there!"
"And Eddie and body are gang leaders or something!" "Just straight G's!" "Straight G's!" "You didn't know that he was such a G!" "Ah, how do you feel?" "We were rolling mob deep down in there!"
"Quite an intimidating guy!" "I built like a semi truck!" "He's built like a refrigerator!" "Yeah!" "Yeah, one of you were like American style double feeder family for a month's or fridges!"
"Yeah, when I was a kid there was a football player named refrigerator Perry!" "He was actually a GI Joe character for a little bit!" "Mettie's built like that!" "WIDE!" "Big!" "Yeah!" "We're rolling deep with some pleb minor mafia members down there!"
"Barn minor" "Mettie!" "Jet!" "Baseload!" "Zach balmsta!" "Our gear slingers!" "Averell and Alex!" "They even met some new homies there!" "Fyroll or V-roll?" "That's Baselokep calling them Haji Paji!"
"Niele" "Which is like Baseload's prodigy!" "Like energy protégé!" "That's quite a crew!" "I'd be crossing the street I think!" "Oh yeah, you wouldn't want to mess!" "You know, born minor and I" "We'd be at the linkcoin booth and trying to entertain people long enough to where they could talk to Mettie!"
"He and I could talk about linkcoin for a good bit when it comes down to getting into brass tacks!" "That's when you hand it over to the boss!" "Somebody come out to the table and say "Hi!"
"Oh, linkcoin! What is that?" "What exactly is that?" "And Mettie would roll up to him!" "Tell me what you do!" "Tell me what you do!" "And I can let you know what linkcoin can do for you!"
"Tell me what you do first!" "Varma and I were a little scared!" "So he won't answer the question directly. He wants to know his opponent first." "Yes, exactly!" "Brings them in close!" "He goes right up to him!"
"Tell me what you do!" "Straight up G! How does it work? Are people intimidated? Or is it endearing?" "Or a bit of both?" "It's a little bit of both!" "Yeah, they're a little bit nervous!"
"And then they answer his questions, and then he tells them what software linkcoin could develop or manage for them." "He's imposing a sweet fridge." "Maybe he's a fridge just filled with profiteroles and love."
"Yes, that's what Mettie is." "A refrigerator full of sweets!" "Ah, that's nice." "So is it good?" "Yeah, it was real good. Mining disrupt was great. Got to meet a lot of great people." "We mainly sat at the booth and talked to people the entire time."
"There wasn't a lot of getting around and touring the place." "But Barminer and I did break off." "Mettie let us off our leash for a little bit." "And we walked around and hung out with everybody."
"And how many people this do?" "A good amount were at this do. I have no idea." "But, you know, it wasn't Elbow's assholes you could get around." "But it was pretty busy." "I feel like I miss out on all of these meetups and conferences and everything else."
"You do, but we get to have a show about it." "That's true. Yeah, I get to find out about it now." "Well, maybe we should start that show." Bitcoin is close to becoming worthless. "A fridge full of profiteroles."
"That's what you do." "That needs to be a sound point." "The Bitcoin is like rat poison." "Tell me what you do first."
Welcome to another episode of Pled Minor Monthly. Good day, Maximilian von Bittenstein. Good evening. Oh, yeah. Evening. Day. Who really cares about time? Good point.
It's 7.04 and I'm just pouring a huge and very strong coffee. Oh, that'll keep you up. Yep. That's the plan. I just lost about a day and a half of work, as you know. So, no sleep for this guy.
Sorry about that. Maybe some fountain boost will cheer you up. No. Come on. So, I don't even want them. What a miserable fucker. All right. Let me... Oh, fine. Fine. That's going to make you feel better.
A boost from late stage hodl for 55,555. Oh, my God. That's... He says keep up the good work, y'all. Oh, that is an unbelievable boost. 5.5.5.5. Thank you, mate. I really do appreciate that.
Who else have we got? Oh, this fucking guy. 21,021 sats. Shit. This podcast always takes me down some rabbit holes. Gonna find out where you sit on the pecking pole and why you mine. Question mark.
Heat? Question mark. Gambling? Oh, gambling's? Oh, fucking hell. Gambling's how I come to Bitcoin. Enjoy the ride. You bought the ticket. Lull. Chaos is good. Or I'll... I can't even speak, mate.
What is going on? Lull. We don't have you read jet boosts anymore. Fucking hell. It's not Chet's problem. It's mine. I have a... Just wait one second. Let me just have my first sip of this coffee.
I'll just do this plunger. I've got a nice cafeteria here. I knew you were gonna say cafeteria. Cafeteria, mate. It's how I do things now. It's nice. Brother Rabbit's given me a nice tip about it as well.
Just so you don't get any of the grainy shit in there. And it really fucking works. What he does, and now I've taken this on, is you obviously put the beans in there, ground up, you pour, you water in, you leave it for five minutes.
Sounds like a long time, but you leave it for five minutes and then you get a teaspoon. And you very carefully, you know, like all the bits will rise to the top? You very carefully stir around slowly.
And you'll watch all of those bits drop down, and they'll drop right down to the bottom. But they'll leave that nice, like buttery husky stuff at the top of his good coffee. And then you wait another five minutes, and then you plunge but only halfway down so you don't disturb the stuff right at the bottom.
So you go halfway down and then you slowly and carefully pour in. And it gives it less of that bittery shit and you don't get any stuff at the bottom. It's worth the wait. It really is delicious.
I'll just, let me just have a sip of that on then. It's fucking delightful. Right. I'll go back to this now and I'll nail it. You listen to this. 21,021 sats from Mr. C.D. Brown. This podcast always takes me down some rabbit holes.
Gonna find out where you sit on the pecking pole and why you mine. Heat, question mark, gambling's how I come to Bitcoin. Enjoy the ride. You bought the ticket. Lol. Chaos is good. Well, it'll be 60k.
And lazy's. Lenore. Tore l'er. You're fucking crack me up. That's fantastic. We got a lot of stuff from you in the past two minutes. We got a coffee commercial. We got instructions on how to make coffee.
Yep. You spoke French in numerous times. Not just in Chet's Boost but Caffetier. Caffetier. Yeah. And you nailed that fountain boost read. Brother rabbit. Was a rabbit. You see? That was excellent.
By the way, oh, I'll just read that later. Okay. Next is Ben 517 BTC. That is one of the organizers of the Lake Satoshi event. He put up 21,000 sets. He said, "Good song selection." Well, thank you.
That was all down to you last week as well. And this week. Yeah. One of the things I do. I don't know what I'm saying. We see this. This is a monthly thing. It feels like it was quite close.
We're recording this a bit early. A little bit early. Yeah. I feel like I'm speaking you slightly too much at the moment. Yeah. I don't like it either. Oh, here you are again. John. 21,000 sets.
Ain't this some nerdy arse shit. Had the torch. Past the torch. Was kind of fun actually. And then as you reply for another 50 sets. Boosted the wrong fucking episode. Oh, sad face. And to boost the brother.
I roll face. Yeah. That was my mistake. I enjoyed the brother rabbit episode so much that I boosted a 21,000 sets here. Thank you very much. And on the actual episode. We'll be hopping around with excitement knowing that.
Yes, he will. His cute little cotton tail. He is cute. Next one is from Max Bit by Bit. Another guy. 20,000 sets. He says I'm hilarious. True fact. Next one is from Permaculture. 18,921 sets.
He says build resilience into your wealth with eight forms of capital. You can't hodl your time. So best to spend it wisely stacking as many forms of capital at once. Thanks for sharing the concept with our fellow pleb miners.
Thank you very much Permaculture. And I look forward. Well, after this airs, I will have already seen him. Boy, did I have at a great time with you during that event. Eight, Mithrandir. 14,441 sets.
Max has a genuine talent for NPC voice. Thank you. Fuck it. Do you know what? I'm actually not going to do any more. I've discussed it myself so much last month. Thank you, eight, Mithrandir.
You and me both. A lot of talent, but it won't be used. Barn miner. 10,101 sets. Must say this in base voice. Don't know if I can pull that off. You should probably do this one. All right.
John, John, my man, John. Where we going, man? Where we going? John, John, listen. Come on, where we going? Alex, Alex, my man, Alex, listen. Yo, where we going, Alex? What are we doing? Come on, man.
We're going to Moxie. Come on. Let's go to the beach. Come on, man. I have a feeling you've experienced this quite a lot then. Yeah, he's got a lot of energy. Next one is for more time. Psycho path.
10,000 sets. L-F-G, double exclamation point. Next one is from Renekman. 10,000 sets. He said, "Great episode. When lincoin hash rate support like pod 256. Shake, shake, shake my head. Get Zack Bombster in here."
Okay. Renekman. Well, we are our own pod and we don't do the hash rate support thing, but good point. If you want to support pod 256 like that, have at it. Get Zack Bombster in here. Check out episode two, bro.
Yeah. We're all over that. We did talk about it, didn't we? And we came to the conclusion. No. Mm-hmm. Yeah, we don't want to follow the leader. No. We're doing our own thing here. It is cool, though.
I will say this before you read the next one. Renekman saw him for a minute down there and disrupt. He was busy working, so he lives in Miami. He couldn't come to the event. But he did end up getting with Zack Bombster down there.
He came by, gave him a t-shirt that we got for him and some link-coin cups or something like that. And later on that day, or the next day he was going to get with Zack to help him figure out some troubleshooting issues with one of his nyord boards.
So he hooked up a Zack and they all nerded out and did nerdy, uh, plebminer stuff. Nice. Kind of guy Zack is. Nerdy, nerdy. Greg. Mm. Greg in lamp. Why? Greg in lamp. Why? Lap. Why? Greg in lap.
Why? Greg in lap. Why? 9,199 sats. Oh shit. Did I forget to boost this? Got it now. Keep it going, homies. Thank you very much, mate. Appreciate the sats. Fucking shit again. Jesus Christ.
21,000. No, it isn't. 2,121 sats. Great show. Great interview. Great information. Great podcast. Your great blokes. Great boosts. Great t-shirt. It says further here, you two are the greatest people I've ever known in my life.
Mm. Wow. Thank you, mate. Chet again. 2,121 sats. Pre-listen boost. LOL. Max. Save some fucking sats and get your ass over to this side of the pond sometime soon. Rub it. Do you think I should one day?
Yeah. Yeah. I do. Do you think you'd have to do a worldwide tour? Worldwide tour. I don't want to do a worldwide tour. This is like a world. You'd have to do a nationwide tour. That's what I wanted to say.
Nationwide? Yeah. I would like to do it. I kind of feel like if I go there, I want to go there for some proper time. I don't want to sort of just like pop over for a couple of days because it's quite an assay getting over there and I'd like to do the guns in Bitcoin.
A little bit of a conference, don't I? Whatever. And then maybe Titan with some other ones as well. There are a lot of people that want to piece of you. This is my worry. People like you worry me.
I want a piece of that action. Oh, fucking hell. It's creepy enough from the other side of the pond over a microphone. Yeah, but if it was just like inches away, yeah, it'd be too much, I think.
All right, I'll get myself in the gym for a while and I hope to never meet you. Yeah, me too. Sweet, sweet, sweet. Mmm. Mmm. That's a Bitcoin. Mmm. That's so good. Gang gang. Mmm. Butter so good.
Gang gang. Moo. Moo. Cows are amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Hashrate is going up forever, Laura. Gang gang. Let's hear some statistics. Statistics. We had to do the estate so you could take one more time.
Statistics. I'm going to tell you the basics for hashing with basics, Bitcoin mining statistics. Statistics. What are we talking about here? Statistics. Statistics.
I'm going to tell you the basics for hashing with basics, Bitcoin mining statistics. What are we talking about here? Statistics. Statistics. I'd like to thank the pleb minor monthly babe for her rendition of statistics.
This episode of statistics is brought to you as always by linkcoin mining and their suite of products. Combine the power of linkcoin pool, linkcoin ASIC management software and rails. Rails enables miners to make real-time decisions based on a number of real-time metrics.
The ASIC management software performs the tasks to enable you to maximize your hashrate to their pool. Another announcement. Brr, brr, brr. Linkcoin mining's energy trading platform is now live.
The platform helps miners strategize their energy procurement strategies. Ooh, you strategize your strategy, eh? And gain insight into their energy expenditures. Visit linkcoin.com to schedule a call with Medi to find out what he can do for you.
Also, do not forget that linkcoin now has hats available through Bitcoin hat guy. That is the same fellow that makes our pleb minor hats. You have two choices in hats. One that says linkcoin right across the front.
Or you can get yourself a body mikbot face hat. That's right. Body is so cool he has his own hat. I've missed this. Really? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Where can I see this? Is it on Twitter now? Mm-hmm. Yeah, check out the linkcoin Twitter account or check out Bitcoin hat guy dot com.
No, I fucked that guy. I'm gonna go to linkcoin. Hold on. Linkcoin. Let me do it now. Ooh. Very, very nice. I don't know. I've been fooled. No, I haven't. There it is. Yeah, that's cool as fuck.
I'd wear that. Yeah. The body has a fresh. That's amazing. He's really coming up in the world, isn't he? He really is. He's running the turntables, leading a gang type group at mining disrupt.
He's got his own hat. Is his pimp hand strong? Both sides. Yes. Really? Yeah, one side soft. Mm-hmm. The other side's not. I can imagine being a robot and everything. Yeah. I didn't really know who sort of controlled that side of the gang.
I didn't know if it would be Medi or if it would be Botty. The body manipulates things in a way where you think that it's Medi controlling everything, but it's not. Mm-hmm. I don't know that.
The hard way. Smart. Okay. I got cocky. I got mouthy. Yeah. Saw the other side of the hand. He looks like a little weasel, doesn't he? You're like, I'll fuck off, you little prick. Your jokes are shit.
Sorry, buddy. I didn't mean that. Sorry, mate. But you do what I mean. He sort of, he lulls you into false sense of security. You think, I just a little robot. Just fucking unplug you, prick.
Then little do you know. There's a backup battery in there. Mm-hmm. That'd be fooled. Max, let's do something a little different here in statistics. Okay. We're going to get in our time machine and look into the future by looking into the past.
You know what I mean? Not really a no, it's a bit like this sort of stuff. Just explain that to me a little bit more. All right. We're going to try to help miners prepare for the halving by looking at the past, explaining the halving, and then prognosticating on the future.
Brilliant. First we'll need to explain the halving or, as we affectionately call it, the hell finning. Yes, sir. This is something that everybody needs to understand, not just Bitcoiners, not just Bitcoin miners, but the normie world as a whole, new Bitcoin are issued by the Bitcoin network every 10 minutes.
First four years of Bitcoin's existence, the amount of new Bitcoin issued every 10 minutes was 50. Every four years, this number is cut in half. The day the amount halves is called the halving, the halving, or as we call it the halving.
In 2020, the amount of new Bitcoin issued every 10 minutes dropped from 50 to 25. In 2016, it dropped from 25 to 12.5. Most recent halving we had was May 11th, 2020. The reward dropped from 12.5 to 6.25.
The next halving is estimated to occur on April 17th, 2024, in which the reward will drop from 6.25 to 3.125 Bitcoin per block. So all we can do here is take a look at the past halving events and simply ponder upon them and predict the future.
So let's look at the first halving that we had, the 2012 halving. The 2012 block halving was the first halving and happened on November 28th, 2012. We went from 50 to 25, as we stated before.
The price was $12.35, but the price 150 days later was $127. So if we get something like that, that will be very exciting. 10x. No doubt. We're math skills are on point. They always are. You're incredible.
The 2016 halving occurred on July 19th, 2016, went from 25 to 12.5. Price was $650 and then 150 days later, it only bumped up to $758. You're not doing the math on that one, don't act like you're slinging.
The 2020 halving occurred on May 11th, 2020, went from 12.5 to 6.25. The price on the halving day was $8,821, 150 days later, it was $10,943. That was some weird COVID times too. Oh yeah, remember that.
Do you remember the COVID times? Yeah, never forget. I was recently reading an article, a coin telegraph, and they had advised to avoid being in the red publicly listed Bitcoin mining companies will need Bitcoin price to be at least $98,000 by the 2024 halving.
Fucking no. That seems crazy to me. I don't know where they go. They had a lot of data on this article. I'll post it on the show notes. Good luck. Yeah. But now that we know these things, maybe we can, I don't know, can we predict some things for the future?
It's always fun to have a little bet with you. It is. Yeah. Because I lose them all. Yes. Have I ever taken sat stuff for you for them? No. No. Have I ever really properly kept track of them?
No. What makes you think? Give me 20 seconds. Regardless of that, let's make some predictions. All right. Before we make the predictions, I got a little bit ahead of myself, premature, prediculation, global hash rate.
We can talk about price of these events, but hash rate made some changes too. On the first halving, the global hash rate was 24 tera hash. Isn't that crazy? That actually, that she is fucking weird to think 25, 24, 24 tera hash, the whole network.
Yeah. Oh my God. Then a year later, it jumped to 4,837 tera hash. So that was a, what am I, my math right here, a 20,000 percent increase. Somebody check me on that. So 20,000 increase. I did put it in the calculator.
Yeah. That's what it says. Well, having number two, which was July of 2016, it went from 1.5 million tera hash, but a year later, jumped to 5.5 million tera hash. That's a 266 percent increase.
Then on our third halving, May of 2020, we were at 120 million tera hash or also known as 120 exa hash. A year later, global hash rate jumped to 163 million. And over the past three years since then, we have jumped up to 380 exa hash.
That was 133 percent increase. So if we were to project that and say that we're at 400 exa hash by the halving, are we on point with that? Or what was our bet initially, 500 maybe? What did I say?
I think I said four. I see, didn't I? Yep. You said 480. So say we're at 480. That was by the end of the year, but let's, let's extend it to 500 for the halving. So that means a year after the halving will be at something like 700, all right?
So we'll write that down. What is yours? A year after next year's halving, each of those that you went through, that was year by year. Or was it halving? And then a year later, halving and then a year later.
Okay. So a year after the halving. So I would say, yeah, because if the last one was what 130 percent and the one before that 266 or whatever you said, it's dropping. So I would say it's going to be 70 percent increase.
What kind of range is this? No, no. Well, I'm trying to work it out in my head 70 percent. So like, yeah, so that is about 700. Okay. So you're going to predict the same thing I am. It's boring.
Okay. Let me, let me get a little calculator. So what we're saying, 500 by the halving. So 70 percent would be another 350. All right, 850. I'm going to go 800. Okay. Very well. I'm at 700.
You're at 800. The mark is April 2025. Okay. Set in stone. If we're still alive, we'll settle up on this. So what is the bet for us must be clear. All right. 100,000 sats, which would be worth a lot of money by then.
Fuck, you know, big spender. I don't know. I don't know. What the fuck? You just settle these fountain booths half the first half of the show got you 100,000 sats. Yeah. And I've got half my debts, though, haven't I?
The late stage hodl will be disappointed. You didn't put his 55,555 sats up for this bet. Fair enough. All right. Okay. Fine, fine, fine, fine, fine, fine. All right. So we're going to get a little bit of money.
I'm going to get a little bit of money. I'm going to get a little bit of money. I'm going to get a little bit of money. I'm going to get a little bit of money. I'm going to get a little bit of money.
I'm going to get a little bit of money. I'm going to get a little bit of money. I'm going to get a little bit of money.

Aaron Hall of Sundog Mining, who you may remember from last month's episode, have written an article on heat recirculation and containment. The article starts off with heat recirculation can be tricky.
Oftentimes it is not discovered until the build is complete and energized. Heat recirculation causes havoc in hot environments. Too much cold air can wreak havoc on those sissy little ant miners everyone loves to run on colder climates.
Hey, man. Yes, too cold can be a problem for Buddha. Well, what the fuck does containment mean anyways? The definition tells us containment and then bar minor goes into the dictionary for this one.
What is this like a third grade book report, bro? Anyway, it's a noun. It's the act or condition of containing. Also a structure or system designed to prevent the accidental release of radioactive material from a reactor, or you can translate into that into Bitcoin mining and say the accidental release of heat from a minor.
We don't want any accidental heat release from a minor. You know what I mean? Don't you want the heat as far away from it as possible? Yeah, you want it as far away from it as possible and as far away from the other miners as possible.
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Up up before we move on with bar minor and sub dog mining's containment article, I'd like to remind you that this bite-sized Bitcoin is sponsored by fix rigs. Perhaps you haven't built your container properly and have overheated some of your hashboards and ASIC chips to the point of failure.
We here at Pledminor Monthly encourage you to send your Bitcoin mining server in for repair to fix rigs. If you've got rigs that are fucked, send them to fix rigs. There you go. That's the ad read.
We're done now. I do have some more written here. Fix rigs will respond promptly to customer service inquiries and requests for service. They offer clear and accurate information about services and pricing.
No, it's not free. They provide timely and reliable service, including pickup and delivery of equipment. They will keep you informed about the status of your repair. They warranty their work for 90 days.
What? That's a good feature. Get it back. It works for two days, you're fucked. And have a knowledgeable and friendly staff willing to answer questions and provide assistance. They offer flexible scheduling options to accommodate the needs of their customers.
Their repair facilities are clean and organized. They follow up with you after your service to ensure that you're satisfied. They don't just hand it off and they're done. When in need of repairs, please visit them at FixRigs.com or on Twitter at FixRigs.
Were they lurking around at the meetup? They were not lurking around at the meetup and I was supposed to meet up with them, but Medi had us at that booth the entire time. It's a real slave driver.
You know, we were like a barn miner, can we step away? No. That was it? No, you can't. Fair. So they didn't go at all too busy fixing. Too busy fixing. Yeah, there were some repair fellows there, but FixRigs, they don't take any time off.
Okay. They get to fix some rigs. They have a new feature or a new product. They also offer a one year extended warranty and that's at three different levels and it starts at $225. The $225 option is they will do hashboard level repairs along with small components and chips.
Second option is a little bit more expensive. They do hashboard level repairs as well as miner hardware such as the PSU control board and your fans. And if you get the top tier level that includes the first two levels, plus they'll do the hashboard level repairs offsite and the miner hardware is included onsite.
So I assume and we should get clarification before I start selling their product like that. If you have any one of those hardware failures PSU control board and fans that they will just mail you once you can swap it out.
Okay. Of course they're not mailing you a technician or repair man to come and do the hashboard level repairs. That's quite an interesting option though. It is. I haven't really heard anybody talking about that before.
I wonder how that works out also. Just being the scabby dirty Brit that I am I'm thinking can confirm are they going to weasel themselves here is someone going to fuck them over I'm not trying to give anyone ideas here but if they got away round like say you've got a hundred miners running and
then you just took out the level three option on 10 of them what's stopping someone just sending any of those hundred. I'd have to imagine that the you know the hashboards are serialized so they have that data right the power splice also serialized control board and then fans maybe they etch
you know I don't fuck around with fixer eggs okay all right I'm sort of looking out for them there thinking like that's the sort of shit that someone would pull but I'm not trying to give someone ideas but maybe just if that is a if that hasn't been thought of
which I'm sure it has then maybe maybe think about it because there are cuts out there. I know that was a big stretch for you putting on your your scammy hat yes really hard isn't it's that it's just literally what my brain goes to straight away it's like huh here's
no fring how can I scam it I blame your upbringing what upbringing right moving on with the containment article the purpose of containment in the Bitcoin mining space is to separate the hot and cold air and avoid heat recirculation into the servers Bitcoin computer servers put out
excessive heat with temps in excess of 140 degrees Fahrenheit 60 degrees Celsius at 350 plus cubic feet per minute of air of air per worker tracking down and repairing hot spots in a build can be as fun as trying to find a water leak in a roof deck if you have half
asked or no containment in place this can be troubling employing best practices can save time and initial deployment and hours of battling hotspots or cold start shenanigans in the future during weather events several container pod manufacturers over the years
have significantly improved their builds to deal with the issue upstream data has incorporated high pressure in let booster fans for the Texas pods hash hot a walk through of their newer hash hot can be seen in the article that we were post on on governable misfits
with the Canadian hipster Steve barber doing a walk through this advice comes from Aaron Hall of sundog mining if you're not familiar with him please visit pleb minor monthly episode eight he says best practices in the field are use good quality material to separate
the hot and cold aisles I think that means don't just cut out some cardboard in the shape of the front of your minor and slap it in there he says common materials utilized at scale our CNC cutouts or foam polycarbonate materials push the unit through the cutout
of the heat aisle it generally works better than placing it just up against it meaning just don't have the edge of your fan up against that cutout push it through so you're cutting the minor and half I think essentially also don't skimp on the tape you'll buy once and
cry once heat rated tape only so don't go cheap and out with some weird masking tape or duct tape some common troubleshooting tips oftentimes you may be chasing down a heat leak when in fact you have an inflow problem this could be caused by dirty filters screen or
just not enough airflow that tip comes from jeff hoes who you can review on pleb minor monthly episode uh what was that max three four maybe I don't know you're muted you'll talk to me later just know that I knew exactly that I was mute because I was slurping away
at my my coffee slurp slurp slurp slurp slurp I just said the right episode but I'm not gonna say again please no alright it's not uncommon to underestimate the inflow requirements this can be a trial and error process unless you're a large public company with engineers
on hand to calculate airflow requirements ideally you want as much air coming in that is going out that makes sense also invest or borrow from a friend a flier camera you can use it to detect where the hot and cold air is recirculating then you can save your hours
chasing hot spots in your build and he has some pictures below in this article that will be posted on govitable mitzvitz.com that's ungovernable mitzvitz.com unlikely and we have a bunch of pictures in here that you can see proper uh setup and containment and separation
of hot and cold also distributed hash has been experimenting with shroud technology in conjunction with crypto cloaks never heard of them to reduce hot air recirculation and increase efficiency their preliminary documentation can be seen here click there they have been
working with large-scale operations to increase efficiencies and to describe this shroud it is one of those that also takes up the exhaust from the power supply and separates the machines we also have at-home mining ingenuity we may know a little bit of something about that
he says at-home miners rely heavily on shrouds and ductwork that is true to reuse the heat in the winter or move the heat outside in the warmer months significant innovation has come from at-home miners over the last couple years balancing a 70 decibel screaming cyber
hornet in your basement or the garage can be troubled for a married man or married woman we're not exclusive here what you do in your bedroom that's your business in as much as there may have been significant breakthroughs from what max and john of the bit by bit podcast
have dubbed pleb miners we dubbed dubstep must have been created in article isn't it it is yeah so fill out your part of popular co-chair in a way the weird and I'm like will it get to our heads at all do you think too late waving off yeah with the invention of
zack bombs does njord cloud line board episode two and minor x-19 users can install inline fan it's almost like bar minor coordinated this with us to mention all of the people that we've had on the show possible probably coupled with zack bombs does njord cloud
line board to control inline fans travis bit cool who we're expecting a an article from as well because he does some super cool builds with zacks boards so travis bit cool has volunteered to write an article as well that will be on non-governable misfits coming soon travis
bit cool has a clean example of incorporating good containment with inline fans and the use of zacks njord board in the example travis has removed his stock fans incorporated a c infinity fans utilizing the njord board to control the airflow he says note that the shrouds
connections for the heat capture in this example with the use of inline fans and insulating ducting travis is able to mine sat while maintaining a healthy relationship with his wife the decibel reduction is significant when the low cost factory fans are removed and replaced with
a quieter fan designed more so for cannabis production that is the what's it called infinity fan cloud line eight inch that's the one you want to get other examples of at-home mining containment or the upstream data black box during pleb minor month we also did an article
with you per hodl who built his uper box similar setup to the upstream data box but it it's on on govald misfits under pleb minor month in articles and um it's pretty thorough on how to build one of those boxes if that's something you're interested in bar minor goes
on to say half ass containment that's his style you can have mediocre success with half ass containment like I said yes it works better than nothing and it's suitable in many applications if I didn't spend so much time typing articles for bit by bit podcast and on govald misfits
website for john to read I could get off my ass and finish my containment by walling this off with CNC metal and if you're not familiar with barn miners build he's got a loft in his barn and his machines are kind of pointed directly at an exhaust fan but
he also has plans to like break them off and have a hot and cold and so there's there's nothing blowing back to be recirculated he says originally I had just a couple few servers in my loft on a rack in front of a 4000 CFM fan as it began to move more servers the CFM
increases and so did the british thermal units be to use coming out of my burr machines during the hotter part of the day the barn was getting into the high 90s that's hot max in case you don't want to do Fahrenheit to Celsius I just can't do it I just don't know how hot
is that it rarely gets into the 90s here okay okay but in flawed in the summer that's mid 90s or your average high the heat coming from the rear of the servers was blowing back here are those are examples of half ass containment and he's got a bunch of pictures of half ass
containment in his summary oh and also pictures of fan shrouds and and I suggest people go and read this article because there's some great pictures and he did some wonderful research and pictures from wonderful plebs that we know and love in the summary he says this was not
meant to be a scientific read and melt faces with technical documentation the goal was to bring attention to the importance of capturing and preventing recirculation of heat into your mining servers the more servers you add to the space the more BTU's you're going to get pouring
out of the other end this heat needs to be directed somewhere properly otherwise it's going to get sucked back into your mining servers you can mitigate heat recirculation with proper containment protocols in place by creating a hot aisle with many different products including CNC barriers
shrouds ducting and heat resistant duct tape remember half ass containment is greater than no containment keep building keep hashing bird maybe a lot that you've changed out now it's a bold thing
Twitter at BTC waterpants isn't what and you can reach him on telegram at Baron made here probably that won't say but you can I don't want to and I don't want to talk to Baron made here I spent all week with him last week we did spend a lot of time together too much it was a good time Max
a million we're ready for fountain boosts part two but do a French in this episode at Macintosh 2121 sat great episode gents would love to get you on telegram group could you possibly drop me a line at redacted email about it thanks I did he's in the group amazing mr mister
1,380 sat number five on fountain last month episode exclamation mark question mark exclamation mark let's fucking go pleb minor mafia represent yeah boy wait do you know what we dropped we were at five again and then you wrote to me like going oh fucking hell I want to get above five I want
to get us that top spot and then you accidentally boosted our show and then I not accidentally boosted our show and then we fucking dropped I was like balling 20,000 sat you did even more and we dropped so I checked it this morning that episodes number four oh is it okay yeah before very nice nice
good work everyone thank you next one is pies 1000 sat's a fiend for more episodes in between these gems please help bitcoin content crackhead out bro sunglasses cool blue face and I'd responded to him soon it's coming more contents coming it is it was before you walk on me a fucking honestly
I could cry so cunty don't cry listen to pies he says john's pronunciation was correct gentlemen cheers and then two beers clinking mmm pies again pleb minors for life son exclamation mark and then pies again
it just keeps going off yeah just like that just like that does she be a past on the left hand side it never runs out there's no way to turn this off
oh is done mushroom mushroom mushroom mushroom mushroom little iron into the tree on it little
along the way the trail not a lot of the trail not a lot of the trail not a lot of the trail not
passion to eat it hundreds out hey hey man you know you load up this whole song yeah right done bye bye bye and hello to pleb minor monthly action news
mining stands to give you the skinny the low-down the scoop info you need to know he goes man with new login insight it's going to be slow but energy market up there you have it a field fire and you're right there's much beside it and john dee
and now collab monthly action news is brought to you by us we're bringing it to you we're the ones bringing you the action news first thing i'd like to mention is met with brad cutty of cholo
energy down there at mining disrupt rolling in some cowboy boots and long hair and a cowboy hat yeah oh it doesn't get better than that yeah if you will came with that that's fucking cool you could see brad cutty like from complete other end of the conference center just holding court
when this cowboy hat i love it he gave me a little tip here that once you hear the tip you go oh yeah well no shit that makes sense but it didn't click with me if a what's minor ends in a zero or a one like the m30 the m50 the m31 it's air cooled okay if it ends in a three or four it's water cooled
and if it ends in a six it's immersion good tonight you got that you're gonna write that down you don't have to it's all right you can just ask brad cutty any time you want he'll tell you i will do next up at the event there were two minors one we've already spoken about
the epic block minor model 520 i which you said what did i say that they are going to have problems because bmw already has one oh yeah this is the company they were just chassled over for like 10 minutes right i talked to their their engineers for a bit they're good dudes they were pretty
funny they had me in bar minor rolling like i've got a an interesting sense of humor so that's funny but the hardware what do we say it was like it's underpowered but at least it's expensive i think when we went over like i only had an estimation of of what could be fun i'm going to
tell you this everybody they're not selling retail any of these things so if you want one of these things you're gonna have to steal it from a larger institution or you're just going to wait till they all come out used okay and then by then you might not want them who knows
we'll find out uh i'm referencing now a nico smid article on the two oh that's who else was in the mafia nico smid was there at mining disrup he wasn't you yeah i actually felt quite left out yeah it's all right nobody likes you anyhow i'll go there and everybody would give you dirty looks
like that's what that motherfucker looks like he's hideous yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah you'd be sitting in the corner somewhere crying yeah they'd be like he's even more concerned real life jesus probably all for the best don't build it up in your head talking about the epic block minor
model 520 i the hash rate is going to be 112 terra ash at 3,700 watts efficiency of 33 joules per terra ash but a maximum input power of 500 watts so that's a they'd say it's a decent power supply nico says the epic block minor model 520 i is designed in north america this minor is
built in the traditional bitcoin minor form factor current generational features intel block scale chips the second gen machines will have different chips because intel discontinues its production the machine is air cooled but immersion ready it does not have stickers that need to be removed
when dunking in mineral oil that's a good one the 520 i has an epic universal mining control board and firmware allowing for dynamic tuning to modulate frequency and voltage in real time to meet curtailment requirements this is complemented by an overclocking headroom of up to 50 percent
and powerful 500 watt power supply the advantage of that the umc control board is that you don't have to pay dev fees for their firmware so you pay that all up front and that could be advantageous we also saw the what's minor control board from epic it's red cool does that make it better yeah
if i get uh oh you're probably not familiar with comic books are you uh try me like that would be too nerdy for you try me is you're so cool red hulk and grey hulk and green hulk i like the green hulk okay well that's all you know is green hulk now we're
done with talking about comic books no no no no why is there two different hulk so i've never heard there's three different hulk colors really there's green gray who was like his name was mr fix it and then they're red red hulk and he's like super powerful real pissed off what better than the
green one yeah i don't know i'm sure there's comic books where they fight each other in some kind of alternate universes it's hard to keep up okay now you know so red it's good yeah the what's minor epic block scale umc control board is like the red hulk and the other one is green coincidence
bitcoin miners are nerdy i could see them doing some shit like that probably all right so this next minor then i'm gonna go over this was like the the the big um draw over to their booth to see this minor with the dumbest fucking name you've ever heard are you ready for this one i remember
you mentioning it and me thinking that's fucking appalling but i forgotten it now so try me again that's it's very forgettable all right deci we minor it's even shit at the second time i don't know if i'm pronouncing this correct deci i'm gonna say it in the purely american accent
deci we minor deci we minor yeah yeah that is appalling terrible but this thing is a Cadillac hash rate's gonna be 170 tera hash that's at its normal settings it does some other cool stuff right 3800 watts in efficiency of 22.5 joules per tera hash with a maximum input power of 500
watts wow okay this was the darling of the event nico says the k10 series is a second generation minor produced by deci we minor the fully customized chip design allows for the best power ratio and yield using eight nanometer chips you know the previous gen was five and then some are saying
the samsung chips are down to three we spoke with the epic blockchain engineer and i said why did they skip four and he's like well did they skip four they went from five to three but the tolerances are like plus or minus a half an animator so is it a three you can have a three that is below three
you can have a three that is four or over four he says it's all over the place okay he called bullshit on that one essentially but this is eight this is eight yeah the machine has a heat dissipation solution with heat pipes the machine has two features that make it stand out the first this
is what deci we minor calls the smart boost by using the integrated automatic hash rate adjustment you can overclock the k10 pro to 200 tera hash using 4,900 watts this means the machine runs at 24.5 joules per tera hash which is pretty good losing two percent joules per tera hash in efficiency
the second feature is the 0.96 inch OLED display on the control board so the back of the minor it actually shows you the ip address the model the power usage the hash rate the efficiency so you don't have to log into the machine to figure those things out it sounds pretty cool
other than the name yeah other than the name i mean it's like powder coated the fans are super quiet because on this board you have like a thousand and ninety eight chips thousand and ninety two chips on that board which you look at a like an s 19 j pro i think they have 128 chips
so there's a lot more chips and these chips aren't as powerful as the individual ace of chips that are on a what's minor or a bit main so they don't have to run as hot so when you roll up to this minor it's like you know it's it's pretty low low decibels it also has a really expensive
looking heatsink on it you pick up the heatsink and it's freaking heavy is this the couple ones yeah yeah it's got like this copper tubing inside the heatsink so it's it's super advanced i don't know how they're going to produce these things at scale to me this is completely my my opinion
i don't know how they're going to produce this thing at scale how are you going to get the materials to produce that heatsink like that all the time what if you don't get the OLEDs it just i feel like you're going to run into supply chain issues i feel like your profit margin is
pretty low but maybe if they get a really really big order on these things it might take off i don't want to be too negative but just those are my thoughts that i i don't know how they're going to produce this thing at scale okay well let's see do you have any sort of idea on costs so
uh no we we may reach out to Alex on that one but it doesn't matter it's not coming to retail anyhow so you got a big giant mine no but you said at the beginning unless you have a giant mind or you're prepared to rob one so oh right yeah you may see if it's worth robbing
yeah exactly i want to know the cost before i make the plans very well well that's the that's the desi we minor i would say go check check it out for yourself but but you really can't yeah but i i'm really looking forward to hearing some feedback if an organization gets some of these
and and how it runs long term the the only person giving feedback right now is the bitcoin dad if you're not familiar with him he runs the bitcoin mining museum so he'll go to different conferences and have all these really old miners some of their like signed by famous people let
him backle sign you know one of these miners and there's a little like a blurb about each minor in particular this this this one hit this block this one came from this mine each minor has a little story and it's neat going through the the hystronics of bitcoin mining but anyways bitcoin
dad got one of these at mining disrupt and he's currently testing it and he seems pretty pleased with it so far desi we we we we there you go you should you should you should we should let desi we know that if you if you want to judge up the name of your miner just have max say it happy to help
next up is our bitcoin base load update the bitcoin base load summary of his energy market inflows the last two editions why is that so short a lot of music continues oh i'm sorry i just wanted
to get into it i really liked the last one where we just continued the music through what is still playing in the background oh i can't hear it yeah maybe i maybe i edited it too low you can fix that later i can fix that but okay fine he says we get down computer action do the robotic satisfaction
that's quote from beastie boy's body moving which we just heard he also has a quote from larry bird who says i've got a theory that if you give 100 all of the time somehow things will work out in the end good of us yeah bitcoin base load likes to go over the weather because when it comes to energy
markets that's very important the weather if we have mild winters and summers then you're not using so much energy and the energy markets change if you're slam-packed with heat like they are in texas well that changes the dynamics of energy usage and procurement as well he says would it be
too weird if i said that it was cold at night in the northeast well we will see a low of 57 in some parts of the country this week base load night don't live far from each other that's what it was it was very cool at night looking at the six to ten day and eight to fourteen day temperature forecast
he's seeing the darker color blue in the midwest that's not brown or orange and the montana Wyoming area base load sees winter looking somewhat of equal chances of no significant change in temperature currently there are extreme doubt droughts in the midwest and high plains Kansas
Nebraska Texas Missouri the west coast and certainly the mid south have really felt the heat this summer precipitation across the USA leaning above average throughout august 17th there are no tropical storms or hurricanes in the forecast pockets of the midwest along with texas are experiencing what the
u.s drought monitor classifies as extreme drought july 2023 was the hottest recorded month in recorded history so they say base also shares some other heat waves in 1540 the european drought and heat wave that lasted 11 months where there was no rain and temps exceeding over 104 degrees which
is super hot in july 1743 a heat wave in china where temps reached 119 degrees fahrenheit and approximately 11 000 people died in 1896 north american heat wave that killed 1500 people so it's not so bad in the energy market intel area he says main is taking a step towards
approving floating offshore wind developments through offshore wind projects have faced challenges in development even fishing groups have given their blessing for the main offshore wind project raising questions about its impact on marine life additional market intel excellion utilities
receive the blessing from pjm to start work on bolstering grid reliability to the tune of 870 million dollars the project is mainly in eastern maryland and mostly to help handle the retirement of talon energies cold plant near baltimore exelon has another new proposal to pjm for lines
that serve the dominion service territory which will cost a cool 300 million dollars exelon is saying that they expect a 50 percent growth in evs and a 12 percent annual growth in data centers maybe that means bitcoin mining data centers 600 percent increase in evs in what timescale 50
percent 50 percent growth than ev oh i thought you said 600 percent well that would be crazy i don't think i said 600 that's why i was like what the fuck that seems regular 50 percent growth in evs reasonable okay at least in you know plug-in hybrids i can see people going towards that yeah
and a 12 percent annual growth in data centers an investigation that took place in 2021 resulted in first energy that is my energy provider paying 200 million dollars for bribing ohio lawmakers to ensure the passage of rate payer funded bailout for nuclear and coal fire power plants rate payers
were paying for the base however done illegally and that's just not cool because i'm a first energy customer i'm not an ohio but that is not cool indeed if you want people to foot the bill for those kind of things you gotta uh let them know they're footing the bill for it why you spend
people's money just yeah there's no noise anyway in the electricity side of the market uh erkot had another all-time peak this week surpassing 83 000 megawatts with the actual on august first with 83 804 megawatts of actual demand if you go to base loads sub stack his energy market inflow
he breaks that down even further what erkot had predicted so far for their their august energy usage and they've exceeded that already but there's good news on the horizon uh base asks us to keep in mind that electricity prices are in fact coming down in most of the united states compared
to 2022 all we can do is take solace in that is it coming down in the uk to be fair it has done a bit oh has it no no she looked at my bill because it's too painful but it has come down it's kind of you still get raped there's more lube involved how kind of them yeah but it's cheap
it's not like there's not a good quality it's like they've just gone well that's some old fucking WD-40s knocking around we use that maybe some sand in it gritty yeah grip you like that it's appreciises gives a little grip yeah moving on to the bitcoin bugle an article by richard greaser
i'm going to say the bitcoin bugle is the most accurate on point journalism in the bitcoin world without that is probably not even outside of the bitcoin world it's the most accurate yeah trusted news source mmm richard greaser says brains operating system revealed to be a white label of
luxor os this is unbelievable the mining world was rocked this week after leaked documents were circulated across multiple telegram groups well then you know it's accurate providing that brains has been operating a white label luxor firmware a white label is when a company allows another
entity to brand and distribute their software to other people this has been a common practice amongst mining pools like luxor as it allows them to secure hash rate without building infrastructure themselves firmware is the software that controls a bitcoin miner many miners opt into using after
market firmware instead of those base firmwares that come from the machines as it allows them to have significantly more control over their machines brains has been a staple in the mining industry as they have spent an incredible amount of money on marketing nick hansen the ceo of luxor
commented on news saying it's unfortunate that this has come to light i wanted to keep this a secret but i guess it's out in the open now luxor's firmware which was publicly released in 2023 has been received with much fanfare many individuals in the space have been skeptical though
and have chosen to stay with already established players like brains the news that brains is a white label of luxos will likely mean that more individuals opt to use luxor's firmware instead which will spell trouble for brains pool which lost almost half their hash rate after riot switch
from using their services many are speculating that riot's decision to switch may have been a result of them finding out about the white label agreement riot has yet to comment on these revelations though marty bent shared his thoughts on twitter saying i'm really disappointed to hear this news
brains has been a sponsor of tftc and the only reason i ever considered them as a sponsor was because they seemed like good bitcoiners finding out that they are white label of a bunch of shit coiners like luxor feels almost as bad as when we had compass as our we had compass as our sponsor
and they rug pulled all of our listeners the ramifications of luxor being the brains behind brains is unknown at this time but the mining world waits in anticipation for this to play out wow i am rocked bitcoin bugle news you can trust yeah absolutely well thanks dick greaser that
was incredible also while i was at mining disrupt i got my hands on a who is dick greaser t-shirt i saw that very nice yeah so i believe you can go to the bitcoin bugle website and possibly order
yourself a who is dick greaser t-shirt and this has been bled by the monthly action news all right max that's that's all we got that's it well should we record the next bit when we've got
the next bit yeah it we should record the next bit when we've got the next bit yeah that makes sense i guess you're probably doing that when you get home uh are you leaving i'm not recording
them until the 14th i am leaving on a jet plane 13th all right well so we'll um yeah we'll just either i'll record it myself or when i get home okay whatever you want whatever we've got a bit
of time we don't have a sponsor so i don't have to do any ad reads yeah exactly thanks for tuning in i've been john d and i've been max see you next week fuckers
he said he was going to do the next bit when he had the next bit and he has i was waiting for pleb minor in the world and i haven't heard it tough shit you're gonna have to wait i'm actually on holiday and i can't be asked to edit the rest so it will come in a few days adios
