Ordinal and inscription shit-coiners hand over millions of sats to miners. April showers bring May flowers, but over the past few weeks, April showers have brought miners May transaction fees as a percentage of block reward.
The pain miners have felt over the past year has temporarily been relieved by inscription and ordinal enthusiasts, willing to part with sats to have their girlfriend's breast size recorded for all eternity on the Bitcoin blockchain.
Bringing to mind a few aphorisms, a fool and his money are soon parted. And a fool may earn money, but it takes a wise man to keep it. Well, ordinal and inscription enjoyers, the pleb miners will gladly take your sats.
But how many extra sats are miners reaping these days? The rise in transaction fees and subsequently hash values started in late April and began to pick up steam May 1st. Transaction fees as a percentage of block reward was 12.6 percent, then 13.
A slight dip to 12.6, then 15, 20. A big jump to 44 percent and peaked on May 7th at a whopping 70 percent, and then precipitously declined from there. But still well into the double digits.
Now, what does that mean for miners? Well, it means more sats on average for those in mine and pools that share those transaction fees with their miners. Look for the next bite-sized Bitcoin that explains the differences between mining pools and their payout structure.
But let's take the payout scheme that we talk about most, because Lincoin is a sponsor of pleb miner monthly, FPPS Rewards. Over a long enough period of time, payouts schemes like FPPS and PPLNS will be relatively the same.
If you're an avid listener to pleb miner monthly and you should be, if you like to be educated while entertained, you'll know we present hash value every month on statistics. Hash value is given in sats per day per 100 tera hash.
If you prefer the stat and peta hash, just add a digit to the end of the number. Our month to month rounded hash value stats have been 37,000, 33,000, 30,000, 28,000, and then 26,000 sats per day per 100 tera hash machine.
At the end of April of this month, a typical amount of daily revenue for a 100 tera hash machine was in the 25 to 26,000 sats. Get into May and you can see the increase in payouts in the 29s.
30s starting May 5th, May 7th, 38,000 sats then peaking at 45,000 on your May 8th payout, an almost 70% increase from late April. The payouts go down from there but are still in the mid 30,000 sats.
Not too bad. Miners need many more days like May 7th and 8th to make up for the slim margins felt over the past year. For minors, the relief is temporary. The game is long, be ready for anything, keep calm, and mine on.
