Bitcoin is close to becoming worthless.
Let's go!
Now, what's the Bitcoin? Bitcoin's like rat poison. Yeah. Oh. The greatest scam in history. Let's get it. Bitcoin will go to fucking zero.
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right, you ungovernable misfits. I'm your host, Max. Everybody knows that Bitcoin is useless, worthless, and doomed to fail. But what if everyone's wrong? What if it's the system that is doomed to fail?
Join me as I speak to some of the brightest people in the space, and deliver to the deepest, darkest depths of the Bitcoin rabbit hole.
Today's episode, I have John back on the show, and we have a very exciting announcement. I'm not going to bang on about it now, because you're going to hear it in the episode. You don't need to hear it twice.
I do want to thank everyone who has been sending SATs via the podcasting 2.0 apps. Everyone who has been making clips, sending new messages, and everything else, are really do-appreciated.
A special thank you to everyone who has been sending boosts. Bond, Valley Dog, Fistful of SATs, crypto-anonymous. User 4493788083560210. Italyvar, Dan Newman, Mr. Mr. Knowledge Power Free.
IOSX Danny, Ben Gunn, and John. You are all helping more than you know, and I really appreciate it. Before we dive in, I just want to give a quick thank you to my sponsors. Foundation devices make my favorite hardware, will it?
Batch 2 is now on its way out to people, and I can't wait to get one in my hands. These things look absolutely beautiful, and they are fully open source. It's incredible to have such nice hardware out there now, hardware that I feel I can get any of my friends or family to use and use securely.
This is so important if we're going to push Bitcoin forward and get those SATs off exchange. Foundation devices have such a great team, and they have all the resources there for anyone to be able to use this.
You can go to foundationdevices.com today to check it out. If you have any questions on this bit of hardware, you can ask me, and if I can't answer those questions, I will pass you on to the team.
If you decide to buy one of these, and you use the code bit by bit, you will also get an extra $10 off your purchase. Get those SATs off exchange today, and secure them with foundation devices, foundationdevices.com.
And finally, fast bitcoins. If you haven't already checked them out, I suggest you have a look at the website fastbitcoins.com, and if you haven't listened to my interviews with Danny Brewster, their CEO, I suggest you go back and have a listen there.
This is a team that I really respect. They are doing everything in their power to make sure that users are onboarded in the correct way, making sure that users take their SATs off exchange, and they do everything in their power to keep you safe.
They were the first exchange to use lightning, and they are always at the bleeding edge. They also just supported the Bitcoin beach retreat, gave out prizes, and helped to make it an incredible event.
Go to fastbitcoins.com today. Enjoy the show. - Morning mate, can you hear me now? - Yep, and that sounds good too. - Do I sound better than I did yesterday? - Yeah, are my levels too low?
Like, 'cause you're a spike all the way up to the top of the little tab thing. - I just think that's 'cause you have a lovely, smooth voice, and mine's just all over the place. - Thank you.
(laughing) - If I turn it up too loud, then I'm worried you'll hear the miners. - Yeah, no, it sounds good, and I can always boost things up anyway. But anyway, let's dive straight into it.
So we recorded, I sat down with John for, it was a couple of hours the other day. We did probably the best recording of all time. Absolutely incredible work. Would include more on history.
But my quality was just disgusting. It was so bad that nothing I did to try and fix. It was good enough. We've had to completely scrap it. So that is now in the bin. Now we're trying it again.
- It's in the bin, it's in the rubbish. - It's in the rubbish. And, oh, I like that thing you sent me yesterday with the two old grime. - I had never heard of those guys before. - Yeah, do you know who they are?
- Yeah, yeah, yeah. (laughing) - It's like Pete and Baz or something like that. I think they're cool. - Pete and Baz, yeah. For some reason when you were doing that whole Bitcoin beach retreat, that popped up.
And it's for anybody that hasn't seen it. It's these two really old guys where if you saw them on the street, you wouldn't expect that they are like world-class rappers. And I posted it up on Twitter.
I said that live footage of the guys at Bitcoin beach retreat. (laughing) - Yeah, they're quality. I'm actually gonna post something in the show notes so people can go and have a look at it 'cause it's brilliant.
- But yeah, so we talked about Bitcoin beach retreat. We talked about all sorts of things. We also ended up getting onto this idea that you had come up with and that sort of evolved into something that I'm very, very excited about.
We're shorter on time today than we were the other day. So I think it would be cool to jump straight into it. I'm really excited. - Yeah, let's do that. I mean, that's the whole purpose of the recording.
- Yeah, so do you wanna give a bit of a backstory to how it's come about what it was maybe previously gonna be and how I've now corrupted it and brought you over to the dark side? - Yes, I can definitely do that.
(laughing) Do it. - Sure. Went to a mining conference last February and that was down in Round Rock, Texas at Kalahari Resorts. And the idea to go down there was something that I've been working on for kind of since I got on Twitter was to build relationships.
And I think that's something that everybody is trying to do at this point, especially when you get into these subgroups into like we do with the Mestadel or what a lot of people do on these telegram groups, whether it's a homesteading group or regenerative agriculture group, a mining repair group like the Home Mining Wizards
or one of the immersion telegram groups is everybody's trying to build relationships. And I think we're all kind of seeking each other out. Because we feel that we really do need each other in order to kind of push Bitcoin to this next level of adoption or perhaps protect ourselves
as we start, you know, move into the, they fight us phase. In doing that, I decided that I wanna go to one of these conferences and I think people are starting to really want to do that kind of thing.
Just go meet up in the meet space with other people. The thing that appealed to me about that conference was it was at a large resort with a huge water park. I could take the family down.
They can go into the water park and eat food and do all kinds of things while I just talk mining with the boys kind of deal. And so when I got down there, that's pretty much exactly what happened.
The girls and Sarah would go into the water park of the day and I would go and do mining things. And I met a lot of really great people down there. I met Coinheated. I met Anton from April Energy.
I had good conversations with them. Met a few guys from engineered fluids. Met the guys from Kaboom Racks. But there were a lot of other players down there too. And their first dedication wasn't towards Bitcoin.
I really expected to go to that conference and meet a bunch of guys that were maximalists and let's talk about Bitcoin. Let's talk about taking you over the world and they weren't. Their interests were fiat gains and Bitcoin and mining crypto mining in general was that was their game.
- Yeah. - Yuck. So I didn't really make those connections like I had hoped. It didn't really come to fruition. And I even remember saying that to you guys, we had a mesh to Dell, we were down there and I was like, I don't know, I just feel a little creepy here with these people.
It wasn't quite the maximalist convention that I thought it was gonna be. But that's okay because Sarah and the girls still had a lot of fun. And I'm not saying that I didn't have a lot of fun.
I mean, I certainly did. And there were certainly a lot of awesome maximalists down there. Additionally, besides like coin heated and boom racks and engineer fluids and stuff like that, well, they're not maximalists, but everybody uses their dielectric coolant.
- It's the difficult one to put your finger on what is a maximalist. - It is, but if somebody's shit coin, if somebody's shit coin-ing that I can say that they're definitely not. So. - Oh yeah, yeah.
But I think the big one is what you were saying there is like finding other people that if the fight is brought to us that you wanna be side by side with people who take this seriously and people who wanna push this forward.
And I'd rather be with someone who is more aligned with me on that, even if they dabble with a shit coin or two than someone who's like, I only buy Bitcoin, but they don't care about any of the other stuff.
And it's only about the fiat gains. And what a maximalist is very difficult to define, but somebody who is willing to fight for something that we think could potentially be the thing that saves things for our kids, like saves this fiat fuckery from continuing.
And it's like this last ditch attempt to fix things. And so I guess that's kind of what you were searching for and not quite what you found with everyone who was there. - I think so. And that was really my first foray into meeting other Bitcoiners in the meet space was going to that conference
because it kind of lines up with all of my Bitcoin interests with mining. You know, you have your group of friends and your kind of privacy sect of Bitcoin. And you guys are all really smart and how to do all that kind of stuff.
Well, mining is my thing. So I'm not exactly gonna go to a privacy conference and talk about all that kind of stuff 'cause I don't know anything about it. But certainly mining has been my thing.
You know, the hands-on aspect of it, the ability to physically troubleshoot electronics, that's my thing. And one of the activities that they had down there was a repair course. So that was something I was excited to go to.
I've been repairing electronics since the mid '90s. So it's kind of in my wheelhouse and I wanted to see what techniques they used to repair machines. So I did get to do that. And, you know, we come back and continue to interact with a lot of those people that we met down there.
And in the Telegram groups, somebody was asking, hey, we need like an administrative assistant or something to kind of help out with the next conference. And Sarah has been raising kids for the past 10 years and doing a little bit of work here and there.
But I think she's kind of filing to the point where she wants to do something else. And so we've been talking about, hey, you know, kind of work from home opportunities. Could I do? What do you think?
I said, hey, this just popped up on Telegram. Somebody's looking for an administrative assistant to help out with this conference. And I was like, you want me to put your name in the hat?
She said, sure. So I did, I reached out to the guy and I said, hey, you know, my wife used to run like a small telecom company. She's very organized. She's kind of like a PTA mom and the mom that everybody looks towards to organize things.
This would definitely in her wheelhouse and probably pretty easy for her to do. So he said, okay, have a reach out. And she reached out and he said, yep, you can do it. Not gonna pay ya. It is gonna be like a sweat equity kind of situation where depending on the, how do I say this without revealing too much, you know,
depending upon how successful the conference is that the next time that will determine and facilitate your pay. So we talked about that for a while and she's like, oh, everything I do is for free.
You know, whether it's school stuff or it's kids sport stuff, things for other people, things for her family, things for friends. I mean, she's really just such a wonderful person, always giving her time and energy to other people.
And she's like, well, this is just another thing that I'm kind of volunteering for. And kind of harking back to that. Well, it's building relationships with people that we are aligned with, which is extremely important in this day and age was as a, I don't know, I kind of get a sentiment of like static civil war.
You know, I really don't think we're gonna get into a kinetic civil war and everybody keeps talking about that kind of stuff. Just the way people look at each other, you know, over the COVID bullshit and the vax bullshit and any other PSYOP that the media gets everybody all riled up on and we don't get riled up and they do.
And I don't know, I just feel this is a time where we need to bind together a little bit more. So that could be part of the payoff there is the people that we meet and the relationships that we make in you doing this.
So she says, okay, well, let's do it. She gets involved in the planning of this venture and things are going pretty well, but it doesn't seem like they know exactly how to talk to plebs. A lot of this stuff was, okay, what influencer are we gonna get out there?
Let's get breed love. Let's get Mike out. Let's get, let's get penis daughter out there to be on the end like, oh my God, this is the guys that they're really trying to reach out to. If I saw that on the marquee and penis daughter was there before, a penis daughter's back.
Oh, great, what does he have to say about mining? What does Mike Alfred have to say about mining? Are you kidding me? So I said, let me reach out to these guys or at least tell them I said this.
And then tell them I said that. And then tell them, she's like, why don't you just freaking call them? Okay, fine, I'll call them. So it was a younger guy who was running things at the time and called him and had a really long conversation, maybe like an hour.
And I said, well, this is kind of my opinion. This is the way I see things and really super intelligent smart kid. He's like, okay, that's great. I really appreciate your suggestions. And I said, listen, from my vantage point, I wanna hear from guys like me.
I'm not special, I'm not remarkable. I'm not particularly intelligent, but I'm doing something. And sometimes when you get a lot of average people focus towards one thing, they can achieve great things.
So I'd like to hear from those kind of people in what they're doing. And it might just be that one little technique that they're doing, that one little thing that they're doing that they'd like to share with someone else.
And maybe they can even learn in the process. And so let's have a panel. Let's have a panel of pleb miners up there on stage who are doing things in their garage, who are doing things in like a small scale business.
And I wanna talk to them. And I think that the audience would like to hear from them. And instead of having some influencers up there, instead of like, you know, Bitcoin conference, they had a lot of great sub panels.
They really did. Especially like there was one with a diverter and a condo alchemist and coin he did. And that was a really, really good panel. And I kind of wanna see more of that pleb side of the mining industry.
And I'd even like to have audience participation. Let's get somebody in the audience there with a mic like Phil Donahue and start asking questions. And we can have, you know, a back and forth.
And he's like, yes, that's a really, really good idea. I said, okay, well, I'm gonna go ahead and start doing that. Yeah, sure, go ahead, start doing that. So it might not have been as soon as I got off the phone with him that I got on Twitter and started reaching out to people that I've heard of or I've seen
or I know this guy kind of does a cool thing. Let me DM him or even people that I sort of knew in passing just on Twitter or in a telegram group or something like that reached out to them.
Hey, kind of doing this thing at this mining conference. I'd like you to be involved. And I was really surprised at the ease with which these guys said, yeah, sure, sure, I'll do it, no problem.
You know, they barely know me. We may have interacted like, you know, two ships passing in the night, that's it. But their willingness to come down to Texas. Best I could offer them was free admission to the conference.
They'd have to pay for the hotel room at the resort. And they were all like, yeah, I'll do it. And why? Why would they wanna do it? Just because they love what they do. They love mining, they love Bitcoin and they love interacting with other plebs.
So that was really easy to start building. And I even got, you know, one of my friends, Tinker Bell, she's a Bitcoin pleb. She's really good with communicating with people on Twitter. Communication is certainly her best skill.
And she's like, yeah, I'll promote it. She was putting tweets out there left and right. We didn't get anything back from the mining conference. Didn't hear much back from them at all. You know, like, hey, we're retweeting your stuff or kind of like the people you have on there.
We'd like to feature them on the website. As we get further along in this conversation, I'll tell the audience who we have here. But one of the people I had locked up for the mining panel who you spoke to recently, I've wrote an article in Bitcoin Magazine and wouldn't that be great promotion for your conference
is to say, hey, this guy who just wrote an article in Bitcoin Magazine is gonna be here up on this pleb minor panel. You could tell there's just something going on in the background even Sarah couldn't quite put her finger on it, what was going on in the background there.
Long story short, things didn't work out with that conference. The guy that made the plans with took a different role within it. Sarah's role was her relationship with him. Where does that leave her in this?
We kind of decided as a family, maybe it's best to step away from the conference. And the way I saw it, that was the end of it. - I'd been following this sort of journey through just chatting to you in the background.
It's one of those things I was keeping track of because I was really particularly interested seeing Sarah getting more and more involved. I love seeing that. I love seeing when families are working together on stuff, Bitcoin stuff, it gives me a great feeling where I think, ah, these are the families of the future.
To see people cooperating and getting involved in this and enjoying it rather than just having the nerdy Bitcoin dad and none of the kids wanna speak to them. And that kind of makes me a bit sad when no one in someone's family wants to talk to them and they're just not on the same page.
So I was like, this is really cool. I loved the idea of what you guys were doing. Then I could feel it were going downhill. I could feel from the conversations we were having and what Sarah was saying.
And then that last conversation, we were on the phone and I was like, what's going on here? And you'd said, oh, we've just had to walk away and you've put all this work in and you've got these incredible lineup of people who like they should be fucking lucky to have.
They're the real people on boots on the ground who are like, yes, they are. You know, if you want a group of people who are gonna push this thing forward, it's them. And so when you told me that, it just made me feel quite deflated.
I could feel you were the same. And I was like, well, fucking surely that this has to happen, that there must be a way that we can make this happen because I want to hear it. I want it to listen to it.
And so, yeah, on that call, I can't remember who suggested it, you or me, but to try and do something-- - Just giving you the credit. - Push it forward. Give me the credit. I think I need it because-- - Yeah, sure.
- My life is just one big fuck up usually. So let's give me the credit. I said, can we do something on ungovernable misfits? Because to me, ungovernable misfits, that's what it's all about.
It's finding a group of misfits, it's finding a group of people who aren't on the big stages, who aren't just on that podcast circuit, who are real, proper, hardcore Bitcoiners, who are the people I want beside me, like with shit kicks off, these are people I want beside me, is the ungovernable misfits.
Not the people you mentioned before, fucking around on stage, caring about how many likes and tweets and all that kind of stuff, and then money going through with that fuckers. - Yeah, exactly that.
And so I said, right, well, can we do it on ungovernable misfits? And then you and Sarah sort of run with it because I'm very, very disorganized. I just said, I love the idea. Let's just do a whole month.
Let's just push it. You guys and some of the other guys who would be on the panels have been running with it. As you know, I'm literally the most dyslexic bloke in the world, like reading and keeping up with the telegram stuff is, I just pop up every so often with like a stupid meme
or something like that because yeah, I just can't keep up. But some of the ideas that you guys have come up with for participation with everyone else and the people who are joining and the ideas of what we're gonna talk about are really exciting to me.
So maybe you can go into some of the ideas for what we're gonna be doing. - Sure, to start out with, you know, I had already assembled this panel of really incredible guys. So why not use them as our first resource and just do some long form pods with those guys.
Let's hear their side of things. One of the first guys I got was Miner for Heat. Well, you've kind of taken that and already did a pod with him, which is awesome, but there's a whole, we've got a lot more things to talk about with him.
There's a lot more knowledge in that brain that we need to pick and extrapolate and kind of dumb down to UNI's level. - Yeah. - So he's one guy that we got. We got Coinheated, of course, 'cause I think people haven't heard from Coinheated in a long time.
He's been very busy working on his immersion tank and his system with a pro energy. So Coinheated and a pro energy are going to be involved and explain their tank and why their tank is different.
And trust me, it is different because I have one sitting in my driveway right now. Kind of been like a Coinheated fanboy (laughs) for lack of a better term. His tank is really different and I can't wait for everybody to kind of understand.
Even when he jumps on the immersion telegram group or I'm talking with those guys on the telegram group about the tank, they have a hard time kind of understanding what the heck he's doing here with this tank.
So I'm really excited to have him and April on to talk about how their immersion system is different and how it can be scaled for homes or businesses. Another guy we got is still BTC. He is doing some interesting things like off the coast of Canada, the west coast of Canada, some remote native island.
He heats a greenhouse, much like Bert de Groot with an ASIC and does some solder stuff. And he's kind of like an artist type and just a really, really unique guy. Really big heart too. He does a lot of stuff with kids.
Just an interesting person in general that I think everybody'd like to hear from. Got another guy named Barclay. He is doing some interesting things with like an air to liquid heat exchanging operation.
He's got going on. All this like custom built routing of the air with, I'd really just like to have him on and explain it. Or somebody saw in pictures what I'm talking about. They would know, but that's why we're having these guys on.
So they can come and explain, "Well, here's my thought process. "Here's why I'm doing this. "Is it good? Is it not good?" We can have those discussions. Another guy I have is a Geomandosa.
He's a desert rat, Bitcoiner. He's out there in the extreme heat. So that brings on a lot of different challenges to mine and that kind of heat. But what do you have? You got tons of suns.
So he does a lot of stuff with solar and immersion. And Geomandosa is going to be a big miner someday, I think. But right now he's a small scale miner. It'd be interesting to hear his mining operations.
Another guy, JP Watts. He's up in the Pacific Northwest. He's doing a lot of the same thing in that he's a small scale miner. He's going to be big one day. He's building his own enclosures, not just buying him off the shelf.
He's a firefighter. He's a heavy equipment operator. Just an interesting guy. I mean, you're kind of seeing the trend here. These are all labor guys. These are all skilled labor kind of guys.
But even it's not just a bunch of skilled labor guys. We also have hashing the heating. Hashing the heating's professional career is he's an environmental scientist. He's like a building science kind of guy.
He can tell you how a building breathes, how much fresh air should be coming into the building. So what hashing the heating has been doing over the past year, as long as I have known him, is collecting information, is finding all these people that might be open to doing something different in the HVAC industry,
in the building sciences industry, just in industrial applications of using waste heat. He's a green energy guy and God bless him for that. And I think if we got into deep conversations, we would have some disagreements about carbon emissions and stuff like that.
But it's hard certainly in the right place. And maybe that's just a difference of opinion. He would say, well, I'm an environmental scientist. And I would say, well, I'm a telephone man. So maybe I'll just have to default to you on that one there.
But he is launching a website soon where he will have all that information, all this contact information, all these spreadsheets of these different guys and gals and businesses that are doing different things that are going to propel Bitcoin to the next level, going to propel Bitcoin mining to the next level.
And the next level to me is bringing it back down to small scale stuff, bringing it to the home, bringing it to the small business, using the waste heat. So hashing the heating is a pretty interesting guy that a lot of people are going to want to hear from in this venue, where we can sit down and talk to him,
where people can submit questions of him, where we can all interact with each other and bounce off each other and say, no, that's bullshit. That's a stupid way of doing things. Or, oh my God, I've never seen it from that angle before.
God, we got a buddy of mine, Bing Bong BTC. He's doing small scale stuff. He's building his own tank. I wouldn't even know where to begin and building my own tank. That's why I've kind of partnered with Coinheated and April Energy and just copy off of them.
Say, yep, can you build me something? 'Cause I'm pretty much retorted. (laughing) - That's why we get on so well. - Yeah, I know. (laughing) - It's fun being the retard around all these people.
- It is, yeah. You don't have to let them know if you are smart. You could just play dumb the whole time. You're totally unaccountable. - I don't know, I'm dumb. - But that, I mean, that list of people that you've brought together is world class.
It's a group of people as well who have so many different issues that they're dealing with. You know, you're saying some are in extreme heat, some will be in extreme cold, some are building on a small scale, a larger scale.
You've got this total, it covers all bases because most people who are listening to a show, especially like a show like mine, more of a plebe, smaller scale show, they're not going to be saying, okay, I'm gonna get into mining, right?
Let me just get myself a warehouse with 20,000 miners, have it all put in by engineers and that's all they do and I'll sort the financing and that's it and done. And I've got no issues. That's not really how it works.
You're gonna have people who are listening to the show and they're gonna go, oh, maybe I live in Europe and my costs are very high for the energy. So I need to find something that's clever to use that waste heat so that it offsets against the cost and they've got to be creative.
They've got to be thinking and that's where I think it's really interesting. It's not just, I'll get a rack of thousands and thousands of miners and plug them in and you go. It's like, I have a real issue and I need to fix it.
Here's a group of people who can probably fix that or at least point you in the right direction. And that's where you start to decentralize the network. Like it annoys me every time that I hear the fucking compass shills who are saying, oh, I'm doing my bit to decentralize the network.
Oh, you're doing your bit to fleece people who are listening to your show. You're fucking them over and it's not decentralizing the network. You're just putting a load of miners in warehouses that are easy to attack.
If you really want to actually do what you're saying, you get the real plebs to run one or two miners. You know, even if it's starting with an S9 and they're just tinkering around and they're finding a way to use it and they're learning.
And then once they get into it and then once they understand and they fix the problems, then they can say, oh, and I want to scale this up. And that's where you get people who are really passionate and when the fight comes and it will come and these huge mining corporations will bend the knee.
There's no question when that happens, you need to have this backstop of these plebs who are saying, I'm not switching off, I'm not selling, I'm not stopping, fuck off. And that's what you need.
And so this is what I'm really hoping is that this group of people that you've got there and you, you know, you keep saying you're a retard, I'm the only retard round here. I've seen what you're building, I've seen what you've done and it's incredible.
And so people can listen, I hope it's, people can listen to this month where we're going to have all these amazing people with all these creative ideas. We're going to have bite-sized bitcoins so people can actually do little short-sharp introduction to learn about certain topics and things they don't understand the FUD busters
so that they can, you know, if someone has some FUD about mining, they are there, they're prepared, they're ready so that if family or friends or whoever they've got to have around them when they're building this set up, they can say, you know, not just arguing, but well, actually, you know, that's the FUD that you've read.
The truth is this. And then, you know, they can hopefully get people on board. It's orange-pilling in a different way. And so all of that together, if we can have a whole month of this, like a real month of pleb mining, I'm hoping that people step away and myself included 'cause it's something I want to do.
And I've got no idea how to fix some of the problems that I'm up against. And so I'm hoping at the end of the month, I'll go, wow. I actually know what I'm doing now or at least I'm way closer.
And here's this group of people that I can reach out to if I have this problem or that problem. And I think that's really valuable. So this is exciting me more than anything I've done with this show for a long, long time.
I'm really hoping that the audience participation bit that you had come up with. I think that's like the secret source. - I think that's certainly gonna be our strongest aspect of it. Is this isn't a bunch of, you know, and lots of people do interviews and stuff and figure out a way to allow these small-scale guys
to communicate with the general pleb populace out there. But it's a one-way communication. It's let me listen to this. Oh, well, what did he say there? I really don't understand that aspect of it.
Let me see if I can reach out to him on Twitter or DM and ask him that and then they never get around to it. We want this to be a two-way communication, not just sitting from this podcast vantage point, this article is on "Ungovernable Misfits" vantage point here is talk to us.
We don't always know what people don't know, especially, you know, we're kind of in this world all the time, you forget what people don't know and then you reach out and you talk to normies and they're like, oh my God, they don't even know about anything about Bitcoin.
Where do I start? So I think this isn't just for normies. This is for hardcore plebs. This is for people that want to get into mining and ask the questions. When you're talking to your family, when you're talking to your kids and your kids have a question about mining or Bitcoin in general, have the kids ask a question.
You know, like you had, let's harken back to something you talked about at the beginning was families. And if you're gonna be this guy sitting in your basement and you come out of your basement and honey, what are you doing down there?
I'm talking on Twitter, I'm talking about Bitcoin and stuff like that. You know, okay, well, you're a fucking weirdo. You know, we don't want to talk about that. We want to talk about baseball and what's going on with politics and how about this movie star?
When your family's truly involved, they're gonna be asking questions. And if you don't know the answer, have your kids ask the question. One of the exciting things that Sarah was planning for that conference was kids involvement.
You know, you look at, and I'm not disparaging any other conference 'cause it doesn't really matter, but sometimes I see these clips of like the Bitcoin conference in Miami and it's like spring break.
I wouldn't want to bring my kids down there. And Sarah and I have talked about, well, let's go to a conference. Well, we're gonna have to have somebody watch the kids 'cause I don't know.
It just seems like a big giant party down there. Where's the kids' activities? And she was planning kids' activities. She was planning kids' education and kind of the inspiration behind that was, while I was down at that conference, I had brought my daughter in, I don't care.
And it's just a bunch of nerds sitting around talking about mining equipment. And I brought her over to the engineered fluids immersion setup and the guy that was running the booth at the time was Dave Sundon, Dr. Dave.
He's kind of like the Wizkid, Wizkid, Wizman. (laughs) Engineer down there at engineered fluids. And I said, "Hey Dave, you know, "I want you to explain to my daughter here how immersion works "and how thermodynamics work and stuff like that."
Boy, was he just tickled to do that. He was really animated, probably the most animated I saw him during that whole conference and he's explaining to her thermodynamics and the different properties of immersion fluid and how it goes through the chips and cools it down.
And chips are actually more efficient when they're at a certain temperature. And he just had a big smile on his face. And she really enjoyed learning from him too. So that kind of gave us the idea that I think a lot of these guys would love to talk to a kid and explain this kind of stuff.
You know, you're talking to adults all the time. We're talking to Bitcoiners all the time. I'm talking to miners all the time about the same thing. But kids have that wonderful way of viewing the world that we just don't have anymore because we're all even miserable.
Yeah, don't care. So he was really pleased by that. And Sarah was planning a lot of kids activities. So that's something for this month that we want to be involved. We don't want it to be just a bunch of guys sitting in their basement listening to a podcast that maybe everybody gets involved.
Let's get this out in the light. That's all talk to each other. - Yeah. Do you know what I think would be so cool is like sending voice notes from the kids, asking a question. And then we can get someone in the mining panel to answer it or if they want to do a written one.
The sort of questions that you're going to get are so important because it's going to connect the kids to Bitcoin and the mining scene, but also reconnect the family. You said something to me the other day that was like, there's an annoyingly 'cause that was a great show.
My favorite bit of the show is you were saying when your miners got switched off, what was the feeling in the household? - Yeah. - Do you remember that? - Yeah, I don't remember why the machines got switched off.
Sometimes it's a bad lightning storm. You say, well, I better turn them off. I better break that connection. So the lightning bolt doesn't come and blow my machines up. Or if the internet goes down for an extended period of time, some of these machines, you're gonna have to turn them off and turn them back on.
They just won't re-acquire on IP address. For whatever reason, my machines were off in the house and Sarah and I were sitting on the couch and she's like, oh, it's such an eerie feeling in the house.
Listen, my noise mitigation is pretty good down there, but there's still that hum. You still know that they're going. I have some down in the basement. I have some in the attic. And there's just that slight hum.
And she said that those machines are kind of like a heartbeat of our home. I love that. It's a sense of hope for us. You know, when you're kind of down and out, I think you probably feel the same way and a lot of plebs feel the same way.
When the whole world seems like they're coming at us, every media narrative is something against us or something against sovereign families. The school system seems to be against our children.
Every institution seems to be designed not to help us but to enslave us. And you kind of get down and all that stuff and you think, but I still have Bitcoin. I still have that hope of Bitcoin.
And that's just not in the back of our heads here at this house. It's in front of us all the time 'cause we're hearing these machines. We're hearing the heartbeat of our home. That is the hope that we have, that we have a tool to fight against tyranny.
So when they're off, it's kind of like leaving a little bit of a hole in your heart. - That's the favorite phrase that I've had or heard in a long time. It's the fact that the family are connected and that there's this understanding that it's not just you being a nerd in your basement.
It's like they understand the hope, they understand their board and they can feel it. And also, I think most guys who are the nerdy Bitcoin are who's in the basement working away. And sadly, a lot of families are thinking, "Oh, it's just a nerd, he's just like playing games in there.
Like, he's ignoring us." You know, I think that's probably, for some people, their view is like, "Oh, he's just like playing around with his internet friends." And in reality, almost every single person that I speak to, especially those with kids, they are doing this for their kids.
It's 100%. I'm doing this. I'm gonna work away. I'm not gonna have a new pair of shoes for five years. I'm gonna sell my chairs. I'm gonna invest everything into this mining stuff. I'm going to, even when I finish my 12-hour day at work, I'm gonna be learning more about mining, more about Bitcoin,
making sure that the future is bright for my kids. And so, I then think it's really sad if the family look at it like, "Oh, he's just playing games." Because once they understand what this thing is, they're like, "Ah, I'm actually really proud of my dad now because my dad's trying to do what's right."
And he's actually a man who's standing up against all the injustice in the world. And so I want to see more of that. And I think, or I hope this month will do that. - Yeah, and please, you know, anybody that's listening to this, first of all, the month is gonna start September 1st.
That's where we're gonna launch everything. We're gonna have a big announcement there. The plebminor proclamation, or what is a plebminor to kind of get everybody up to speed is at least what our vision of what a plebminor is.
It's gonna be September 1st. But even before September 1st, tell your wives, tell your kids about what's going on. Submit the questions, have them record questions, and interact with everybody.
We're gonna be real active on Twitter, not just in September, but in August as well, kind of spinning things up. Get them involved now. Don't wait 'til September 1st. Don't wait 'til after September.
Get them involved now. I'm sure your kids have lots of questions. I'm sure your wives have lots of questions or your husbands, let's not be sexist. I have lots of questions about this kind of stuff, and let's get them involved.
If you are the guy in the basement who's coming up, and your family doesn't understand what you're doing, well, let's change that. Because I think one of the most beautiful things that we're gonna see in the next five, 10 years is Bitcoin kids coming up and contributing to Bitcoin, their vantage point.
That's the only thing that they've ever known is Bitcoin being in existence. Isn't that kind of a fascinating thing? - It's amazing. - Yeah, and hearing from your girls have done a bite-sized Bitcoin and were involved in that, and they understood more about physics than I do.
I was like, Jesus Christ, like explaining, I can't remember what it was, what the talk was on. It's something to do with electricity. - It was electricity, yeah, it was kind of jewels and wats and resistance and how to calculate that and stuff.
- And I was like, oh my God, these kids are geniuses. And they're learning that because of mining. And then I speak to like, SoulEx boy. And I'm like, oh, again, that's genius. - Smarts could have ever spoken to him.
- He's smarter than SoulEx. - Oh yeah, but I'm in. (laughing) No, I don't mean that, SoulEx, I love you. No, he's incredible. And so these kids are learning about all sorts of things through mining.
And I think with a lot of people going more towards home schooling and trying to get away from some of the crazy shit that's going on, it would be great for the kids to be tinkering and learning.
They can learn a bit about software. They can learn a little bit about fixing boards or whatever it is that goes wrong and fans and heating and potentially plumbing. And these are all real skills that actually matter in the real world.
And it can be fun as well because why not do it so that as the miners are wearing away, a percentage goes into their piggy bank. You have like, they come and do a bit of engineering with you and they learn about all sorts of things.
And suddenly their schoolwork doesn't really feel like schoolwork because they're having fun and they know that they're earning a little bit of Sats and they start to understand the value of money and I will put this work in.
There's so many things that can be done with this. I think it's really, really exciting. They get to learn about all sorts of things and learn why you're doing what you're doing. So I'd love to hear the questions from the kids and from everyone who maybe has sat on the sidelines at the moment, try and bring the men.
Also, like if anyone has any ideas of other people that either you think would do a good bite-sized Bitcoin or you have a question that you think would be really good to answer or someone that maybe me or John can speak to or even this crossover you mentioned earlier, like I nerd out with a lot of the privacy guys.
They have taught me so much over the years. And I do think that there is a bit of a crossover here, which is that the mining plebs, once you get your Sats from the pools, you wanna make sure that nobody can touch them, nobody can track them and that they're yours and they really are proper fuck you Sats.
And so if anyone from that community open arms with his networking skills and coin joining skills or Brother Rabbit or X21 or Bitcoin Q&A, any of you sort of guys who wanna throw your all in and give a few tips and bits and pieces to make sure that these Sats stay as safe as possible, please do.
- Yeah, 'cause you know, listen, we're all one brotherhood here. We're all one family. It isn't the mining guys and it isn't the privacy guys and it isn't the think boys. You know, we're all just different personalities and the same family.
And I think a lot of miners think, well, these are KYC free Sats that I'm getting. Maybe not, I'm not quite bright enough to really understand all that stuff. So please privacy guys come and tell us why we're right or why we're wrong and having that opinion or thought that mining is KYC free because kind of
in the back of my mind, it is not. You're sharing your IP address with a pool and I'm sure there's lots of ways to chain analysis and look back and figure you out. So help us out in that case.
That's kind of why I like Econo Alchemist. He's a neat guy. You know, he really started out as a privacy guy, I think, and then got into mining and mastered that as well. So he actually has a really good VPN guide for mining if somebody wants to check that out.
But we need more content like that. Let's broaden our horizons. - There's a big crossover with those two communities. There's a big, big crossover, you know, looking at it. There is definitely a massive increase in privacy mining.
Even if you do everything wrong, it's still better than going to a KYC exchange. - Well, sure, yeah. - I mean, it's better. Starting from like, you can be doing the absolute worst job with your privacy and you're still way ahead of most people.
And so if we can just then say, okay, these are the other steps that you can take and it doesn't have to be straight away. It doesn't have to be perfect. It can just be, ah, like you said, have you thought about running a VPN?
Have you thought about coin joining afterwards? Have you thought about whatever it is? And so there is a crossover with these kind of guys who, yeah, they care about privacy. So they start mining because they're like, well, I want to acquire stats.
How do I do it? Diverter as well. And some of these other guys mining for the streets, mining for the streets is still a great guide. It's still a great starting point. Even though it was written a while ago.
- And it's what then inspired a conno-alchemist. It's like, he said this on my show. He was like, I read that and I was so inspired and that's why I'm doing what I'm doing. And so this is why it's important because we all need to inspire each other and push this forward.
And there's so many great minds, so many great ideas. If we can collaborate, work together, it starts to get to a point where someone can say, well, I can just buy a miner and I can run it on a small scale and I don't have to go to a company where I'm going to DCA and give over all my information because the information is so clear
and this is so obviously better for me and for my family going forward. It's not even a question anymore because I think it's quite like even for me where I'm like messing around with this stuff all the time and I'm chatting to the privacy guys all the time and I'm chatting to people like you who are mining at home,
I'd still be a bit nervous. Like I'd probably muddle through and I'd probably do it and I'd make a few mistakes but I'd be a bit nervous to do it because I think, oh, I'm going to fuck something up here.
So I definitely think that, you know, we can put something together where at the end of the month people will go, you know what, I'm just going to do it. And what a brilliant time with the prices of A6 where they're at at the moment.
It's an interesting time to be looking into this, I think. - It certainly is, you know, in the M50s coming out, the XP is coming out and a lot of these large mining operations have futures orders for those things.
So they're going to get those machines online. I mean, there's kind of no doubt about it. So what are the old machines going to go? All these mining institutions that are going to be going under because I don't see that not happening.
They got to liquidate those machines. Whether they're the ones that liquidate them or their creditors come in and take those machines and liquidate them, they're going to have to get out there on the market.
So this is, I wouldn't say this is an equivalent to the China mining ban, but it is certainly one of those events that are going to happen cyclically. And that's the time that we need to strike.
If you were looking at machines at $10,000 for, you know, a 110, look again, because you'll be surprised they've come down quite a bit. - But four or five now, aren't they? - Yeah. And even sometimes if you're ordering in bulk, they could even be lower than that.
Most people are probably just going to go to Kaboom racks and get one. And that's some place that you can go and you know that you're going to be safe and you know it's guys that you can trust.
But there are other ways to acquire machines, you know, go on the hardware markets and stuff like that and just hawk and just interact with people, ask questions. Once again, this is all about relationships.
It doesn't have to be so far removed. I think a lot of people are willing to answer questions to how to acquire a machine. That's certainly one of the things we could address there on the month is where do you start?
- Yeah. - How do you acquire a machine? But yeah, I think now is a very interesting time, at least to start looking at this kind of stuff. You know, you know a lot about privacy, but you're also very lucky to know guys like Q&A and Brother Rabbit and Antomists and stuff like that.
And you have them on basically at the tip of your finger at any moment you could communicate with them. I think a lot of people probably have a lot of questions about privacy and you always say on the shows, you know, please reach out to me.
If I don't know the answer to your question, I'll certainly find out. And we kind of want to be that resource too, at least in this month that if you've had a question, hopefully we can answer it for you.
Hopefully we can give you the resources that you need to increase your level of sovereignty, to decentralize the network, to just be involved in something kind of fun. I mean, it seems kind of weird to say plugging in a machine and watching the satchel and it's fun, but there's a lot more to it than that.
You've got noise mitigation, heat mitigation, the things go down and you can step up your game as well. You can put in a VPN, you can do all this kind of fun stuff, experiment, do things like somebody that we're gonna have on the panel, Michael Schmitt, Schnitzel.
He just has a new project. I think it's like Nakamoto Heating Company or something like that. He's doing some interesting things with home heating. A lot of the home heating guys are, so you can go down that route.
Well, I got all this waste heat. What do I do with it now? It's just one rabbit hole after another and you don't realize that until you get a machine, until you start mining, until you start putting the feelers out there and asking questions.
And we kinda wanna be a resource to help somebody get started, so part of that is gonna be giveaways for the month of September. I've given away a few S9s over the years and I've found that that is one of the most effective ways to get somebody started.
Here, you can plug this into 110. You can hear how it sounds. You can hear the heat coming out. You can kinda get an understanding of how many sets that you're gonna get. Sure, you can look on a mining profitability calculator and kinda say, okay, well, an S9 here at this price, I'm actually gonna lose money, so on and so forth.
But until you kinda start feeling that real world and have that experience of watching a satchel and you don't know. So that's one thing that we're gonna try to do, is try to give away a machine.
I have a lot of air-cooled stuff that I'd like to give away to people. I think fan shrouds is a good starter for directing the heat and trying to handle noise mitigation techniques. So I get some fan shrouds, we wanna give away.
And we're gonna have sponsors, but the sponsors aren't going to go to Max and John's pocket. That's gonna go get paid forward back to the pleb. So any sponsors that are gonna be on the show, perhaps it's gonna be a discount code for one of their products, to make sure that we're providing you value
and they're providing you value giveaways and the cost of shipping, because we wanna give away perhaps ungovernable misfits gear, fan shrouds, stickers, 3D printed stuff to people out there.
Don't know how we're gonna do it in a non-doxing way, but we'll certainly do our best. - Well, that's maybe something that we can work on. We can speak to some of the other privacy guys about.
We can use the pleb network. Something Solax talks about all the time is pleb mail. So like sending things out to trusted people who pass them on and maybe it's a bit slower, but we can do that.
All like bringing stuff to a meetup or however we wanna do it, but ungovernable misfits, me and Mr. Crown will certainly give some bits away, some hoodies and t-shirts and maybe some hats and different bits and pieces.
You kindly saying about the S9, we've got a couple of sponsors that I don't think we need to say who it is right now, but a few people who are willing to help do some giveaways and stuff and yeah, like you said, not a single SAP will go to you or I or Sarah or any of the people who are putting time into this.
It is to try and get people to mine at home. That is our shill. We're trying to get people to really decentralise the network and also like just build this community and get people working together and sharing ideas and learning along the way.
So yeah, anyone who's listening to this and you think, do you know who a really good sponsor is such and such, then please like reach out, let us know and we'll work out what we can give back to the people listening or anyone who's like privately listening and thinks, oh yeah, I've got an S9 knocking around.
I don't mind giving that away or yeah, whatever it is, just let us know and that would be really cool because I think that will pull some people in. You know, some people might just say, well, I literally can't afford to do it.
Well, maybe you can if you win that prize, if you get a free S9, maybe you can start tinkering. So that would be really cool to see. And maybe for the people who aren't so privacy conscious or they are under a NIMM possibly, they can then maybe further down the line, give the story of how that's been setting something up
and getting involved and where does that take them? Who knows? They might end up being very, very influential in the future. - Yeah, no doubt, you know, you always kind of look on Twitter and the people with the lowest follower count are putting out some of the best content.
I'll see somebody with 100 followers and they'll send pictures of their mining set up and they're like, wow, that blows mine away or I haven't seen anything like that before. Where has this guy been?
He's been in his basement tinkering and doing stuff and please get out there and share so other people can learn. One of the things that Solx and I have talked about doing for this month is to make kind of like a montage thing, some kind of music pushed montage that's like rhythm where it shows a bunch of pictures of mining setups.
So that's something I'd like to reach out to everybody. If you're comfortable with doing that, you know, you don't have to attach to your name or anything like that. But just send a Maxariah pictures of your setup because I think for a lot of us, that's the kind of learner that we are.
- Yes. - Imitate then innovate kind of thing. And if I just see a picture of something unique, that's really inspiring. So Solx and I want to kind of, well, Solx is gonna be the one to make it.
I don't know how to do any of that kind of stuff. (laughing) But I can ask people to send pictures of their mining setups. So please submit that too, we want you to be a part of this just as much as anybody else.
I want everybody to be a part of it, a family, let's collaborate, let's do things together. In that same way of you reaching out to me, I'm gonna probably be reaching out to a lot of you guys if I see your setup on Twitter or something like that or I talk to you on Telegram or I've interacted with you
in some way, even whether you're just a pleb or whether you're a sponsor, a potential sponsor, I'm gonna be reaching out to you. Max is gonna be reaching out to you. Sarah is gonna be reaching out to you.
We're not some kind of creepy weirdos. - No, we are. - We just wanna talk to you. We just, all right, so we are creepy weirdos but not in this sense, we don't wanna go down into your basement with you.
So we're gonna reach out to you, see if you wanna be involved. You know, just tell us yes or no, if you wanna be involved or if you have a question or wanna submit something or an idea, let's all talk, let's communicate.
That's what this is all about. - Definitely, well, I think that is probably a good place to wrap things up. We didn't get into some of the stuff we did in the last one but we'll do another part. - All right.
I think that was a really good introduction to what we're doing. And yeah, I can't wait, I'm buzzing. It might be because I've had two massive cafeteria's of coffee as well but I'm fucking buzzing, I wanna start now.
- I think you asked me, do you wanna record this morning? I was like, yeah, yeah, let's do it right now 'cause I'm buzzing as well. I'm really excited about the month. I'm really excited to interact with everybody.
- Well, yeah, people please reach out, please with suggestions, get involved in any way you can and John, thank you for the idea, Sarah, thank you for the idea and Mr. Crown, thank you in advance for putting up with my bullshit and putting some of these shows up and making it all look beautiful
and doing all the incredible artwork that you do. - Mr. Crown is the heartbeat of Ungovernable Misfits. - Yes, he is, without him I am nothing. He makes everything just look gorgeous on the website and he polishes a turd, that's what he does.
(laughing) So, all right, we'll wrap it up there and look forward to hearing from everyone. Thanks, John, we'll speak soon, mate. - Thanks, Max. - Thanks again for listening. If you have any questions or want to get involved, please reach out to either me or John.
Twitters will be linked in the show notes and we'd love to hear from you. You can keep up to date with everything we're doing at ungovernablemisfits.com. Any feedback is welcome and please do share with friends and family if you enjoyed the show.
A comment and review go a long way so I would very much appreciate that if you have enjoyed it. Catch you on the next one.
